The exhibition of outstanding traditional Chinese cultural classics, featuring oracle bones with the character "dian", remnants of the "Xiping Stone Sutra" from the reign of Emperor Ling of Han, the earliest surviving Song engraved edition of the "Zizhi Tongjian", and the earliest engraved edition of "Dream of the Red Chamber", opened on the 9th at the National Library of China (National Classics Museum). More than 60% of the rare Song and Yuan Dynasty editions were exhibited, making it a feast for ancient book exhibitions. The exhibition displays a total of 54 precious exhibits and 75 volumes, with key exhibits including the National Library's collection of the "Shan Hai Jing" carved by Chiyang County Studio in the seventh year of Song Chunxi (1180), the "Xi Ping Shi Jing" and the "Shang Shu · Yao Dian" fragments, the "Zizhi Tongjian" carved by the Tea and Salt Bureau of Liangzhedong Road in the second to third year of Song Shaoxing (1132-1133), the Song carved "Tao Jingjie's Poetry", and the Shandong Museum's collection of "Gongdian" Bu Gu. Among them, the character "dian" in the oracle bone inscriptions of "Gongdian" is in the form of a book on top and two hands on the bottom, indicating that one can hold and read the book with both hands; The "Gongdian" in oracle bone inscriptions is a ritual in which the Yin people contributed large volumes during sacrificial ceremonies. The Zizhi Tongjian was published and printed shortly after its completion, but the Northern Song Dynasty edition no longer exists today. The Southern Song Dynasty edition exhibited this time is the earliest surviving Song Dynasty edition of the "Zizhi Tongjian", and it is the only surviving one, which shows its high value. During the reign of Emperor Ling of Han in the Xiping era, Cai Yong and others were summoned to revise the texts of the Five Classics, write them on tablets, and engrave them in front of the Taiyuan School in Luoyang, known as the "Xiping Stone Classics" in history. The remaining stone on display corresponds to the ancient Confucian text "Shang Shu · Yao Dian" passed down in later generations. According to scholars' research, the ancient Confucian text "Shun Dian" was supplemented by dividing it into "Yao Dian". The Cheng Jiaben "Dream of the Red Chamber 120 Chapters" exhibited on site is the earliest engraved version of "Dream of the Red Chamber", which for the first time combines the first 80 chapters of Cao Xueqin and the last 40 chapters of Gao E. It is worth mentioning that in addition to various forms of multimedia interaction, the exhibition hall is also equipped with a millimeter wave radar sensor system. When the presence of the human body is detected, the lighting is turned on, which greatly reduces the exposure time of light sensitive cultural relics and extends the safe display period of paper cultural relics. The exhibition is hosted by the National Library of China and co organized by the Liaoning Provincial Library, Shanghai Library, Nanjing Library, Zhejiang Library, Shandong Museum, Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library, Gansu Bamboo Slips Museum, and Jingzhou Museum. It will be open to the public on September 10th. (New Society)
