President Xi Jinping meets with Norwegian Prime Minister Støller

On the afternoon of September 9th, President Xi Jinping met with Norwegian Prime Minister St ø ller, who was on an official visit to China, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.
Xi Jinping pointed out that in the 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Norway, the two peoples have respected, appreciated, and learned from each other, forming a valuable friendship. To further develop China Norway friendly cooperation is in line with the will of the two peoples and the fundamental interests of the two countries, as well as the general trend of closer ties and shared weal and woe among all countries in the world.   China will continue to follow the path of peaceful development. By further comprehensively deepening reform and promoting Chinese path to modernization, China will inject stability and certainty into the troubled world and create more opportunities for the common development of all countries. China is willing to work with Norway to promote the continuous development of friendly cooperation between China and Norway.
Xi Jinping emphasized that looking back at the 70 year history of China Norway relations, friendship and cooperation are the main themes. Historical experience tells us that to maintain stable and healthy development of bilateral relations, the most important thing is to adhere to mutual respect, seek common ground while reserving differences, including respecting each other's core interests and taking care of each other's major concerns. China and Norway have strong economic complementarity and fruitful cooperation achievements in various fields. Both sides can combine their respective advantages to continuously expand practical cooperation in areas such as green environmental protection, energy transformation, maritime shipping, agricultural and fishery products, electric vehicles, etc., strengthen cooperation in education, science and technology, culture, tourism, winter sports, etc., and maintain close personnel exchanges, especially youth exchanges. China and Norway have broad consensus on maintaining world peace and security, addressing climate change, protecting biodiversity and other global challenges. China is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with Norway on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, practice true multilateralism, and promote equal and orderly multipolarization of the world and inclusive economic globalization. We hope that Norway will play a positive role in promoting the healthy and stable development of China Europe relations.
Streller conveyed the warm greetings of King Harald V to President Xi Jinping, stating that Norway was one of the earliest Nordic countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Norway and China 70 years ago, the relationship between the two countries has developed well, and both sides have carried out dialogue and cooperation in a mutually respectful manner. Norway respects China's sovereignty, adheres to the One China policy, and is willing to continue to respect each other's core interests and major concerns, learn from each other, exchange and learn from each other, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. China's development is full of vitality and there are many successful experiences worth learning from. The Norwegian side looks forward to expanding cooperation with China, especially in areas such as green development, addressing climate change, maritime shipping, agriculture, fisheries, and aquaculture, new energy vehicles, and artificial intelligence. China plays an important role in solving many global challenges facing the world today and addressing major international issues related to international peace and security. Norway supports free trade and is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China under multilateral frameworks such as the G20, and supports the strengthening of cooperation between Europe and China.
Both sides exchanged views on hot issues such as the Ukrainian crisis. Xi Jinping emphasized that China encourages and supports all efforts that are conducive to the peaceful resolution of the crisis, and will continue to persist in promoting peace talks, playing a constructive role in advancing the political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. We hope that all parties can accumulate favorable conditions for the political resolution of the crisis through dialogue.
