On August 29-30, 2024, the first China Clinical Case Conference was held in Xiong'an. The conference mainly focuses on the construction and application of the Chinese Clinical Case Achievement Database (i.e. Case Library), further promoting the sharing and utilization of clinical case resources, and enhancing the level of medical education and clinical practice in China. Since 2019, the China Association for Science and Technology has entrusted the Chinese Medical Association to undertake the construction of the case library, which will be implemented by the Chinese Medical Association Journal. After 5 years of effort, the case library has become a public welfare platform for the release and exchange of large-scale clinical case results nationwide, with over 110000 case reports included and more than 20 million readings, receiving high praise from clinical doctors. It also plays an important role in leading scientific research and innovation practices, promoting clinical diagnosis and treatment standards, and improving diagnosis and treatment levels. Zeng Yixin, Deputy Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Group of the National Health Commission, stated that talent is a fundamental strategic resource. In recent years, the National Health Commission has made significant progress in promoting clinical medical education reform in conjunction with the education department, focusing on cultivating good doctors who can provide medical treatment. He emphasized that strengthening the construction of clinical case achievement databases and benefiting the vast number of medical workers with excellent clinical cases is one of the important responsibilities of the Chinese Medical Association. I hope the Chinese Medical Association can build a case library into a learning platform, evaluation platform, and resource platform. Meng Qinghai, the full-time vice chairman and secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, fully affirmed the achievements made in the construction and application of the case library. He pointed out that technology is the foundation of a strong country, and talent is the primary resource. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee emphasized that education, science and technology, and talents are the basic and strategic support for Chinese path to modernization. It is required to deeply implement the strategies of revitalizing the country through science and education, strengthening the country through talent, and promoting innovation driven development, and to coordinate and promote the integrated reform of the education, science, technology, and talent system and mechanism. He emphasized that the construction of a case library is an important tool for cultivating and activating medical talents. He put forward four expectations for the construction of the case library: firstly, to adhere to quality first and strictly control the standards for storing results; Secondly, highlight demand orientation and continuously improve service functions; Thirdly, pay attention to user feedback and comprehensively evaluate the value of the results; The fourth is to explore multiple paths and expand the scope of evaluation applications. As of now, most provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government in China have included clinical cases as one of the conditions for applying for professional titles in their relevant professional title evaluation policies; Fifteen medical institutions from seven provinces have become co construction units of the case database; At this conference, the opening ceremony of the case library sub websites of 32 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps was also held. Recently, under the guidance of the National Health Commission, the case library has continuously strengthened its cooperation with relevant management departments such as continuing medical education and standardized training for resident physicians, in order to achieve coordinated development, improve quality and efficiency, and enhance the clinical thinking and professional skills of medical personnel. The conference will hold a case achievement exhibition, a report meeting on the co construction and sharing of case achievements, a report meeting on key projects in the case library, and relevant academic seminars around the cases. The Chinese Clinical Case Achievement Database Inspection Medicine and Ophthalmology Professional Group will be established. (New Society)
