To forge iron, one still needs to use their own pliers

2024-09-09

There is a folk slang that goes, 'Those who forge iron must use their own pliers, and those who farm must go to the fields themselves.'. The meaning is that blacksmiths must personally hold pliers when making iron; Farmers must personally plant seeds when working on farmland. This tells us that practice and experience always complement and promote each other, and the two are closely related, complementary, and indispensable. It can be said that experience is the foundation and guidance of practice, and practice is the application and verification of experience. Only by constantly working, learning, and comprehending in practice can we accumulate good experience and practices, and better carry out subsequent practical work. The same principle applies to the effective implementation of party affairs at all levels of the military. In practice, some party members and cadres tend to take shortcuts and do not pay attention to accumulating work experience when carrying out their work. They are unwilling to roll up their sleeves, bend down, or open their arms to explore and practice, resulting in some problems and phenomena from time to time. For example, some people deviate from the actual situation of the unit and do not respect objective laws when formulating plan goals; Some people, when encountering new situations and problems, do not study how to solve them, but only want to hand over the conflict and distance themselves from the responsibility; There are also methods and approaches that are single and dogmatic, overly reliant on second-hand materials and information, resulting in unscientific decision-making and implementation of work, and unable to promote high-quality development of military construction, and so on. Comrade Mao Zedong once pointed out in his "Theory of Practice" the long-standing erroneous ideology of "empiricism" within the Party, which has good enlightening significance for Party organizations at all levels and Party members and cadres today: in order to make achievements in the military, it is necessary to correctly understand the spiral relationship between practice and experience. That is to say, Party members and cadres must constantly boldly practice, refine experience, practice again, and sublimate experience. Only by doing so repeatedly and persistently can they ultimately achieve tangible results with an attitude and style of integrating knowledge and action. Practice is an important foundation for Party members and cadres to take root in their positions and make achievements in military camps, while experience is a valuable accumulation of Party members and cadres' practical experience. Party members and cadres in the military should find their own position, deepen their understanding of "practice is the best classroom", strive for excellence based on their own positions, dare to shoulder heavy tasks, take on big responsibilities, and fight hard battles in daily work training and task execution, pay attention to leading by example, and practice, ponder, and summarize more in tasks. One hot potato after another and one hot pot ant after another, only by enduring a lot of urgent and difficult tasks can we better enrich our experience and insights through practice, and use experience to continuously guide new work practices in the future. Practice leads to true knowledge, and true knowledge cultivates talent. On the journey of building a strong military, the vast number of Party members and cadres are the backbone of implementing various rules and regulations of the military. The experience and practices summarized and refined in the hot training and preparation for the front line are an important foundation for building a strong military. Therefore, party members and cadres, especially leading cadres, should deeply understand the dialectical relationship between subjectivity and objectivity, experience and practice, and lead and drive the comprehensive construction of the unit with a large number of beneficial personal practices, contributing greater strength to the timely realization of the centenary goal of building the military.
