The China Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy released the "China Regional Science and Technology Innovation Evaluation Report 2024" at the 2024 Pujiang Innovation Forum on the 8th. The report shows that the level of regional scientific and technological innovation in China has further improved, and the multi-level and distinctive regional innovation system has become more perfect, providing strong support for high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and the construction of a strong scientific and technological country. The report evaluates the comprehensive level of scientific and technological innovation in 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) in China from five aspects: the environment for scientific and technological innovation, investment in scientific and technological activities, output of scientific and technological activities, industrialization of high-tech industries, and promotion of economic and social development through science and technology. Twelve secondary indicators and 44 tertiary indicators are selected to analyze and study the development trend of scientific and technological innovation in each region. The report shows that in 2024, China's comprehensive science and technology innovation level index score will be 78.43 points, an increase of 1.30 points from 2023. The input and output index of science and technology activities will significantly improve, and the level of science and technology promoting economic and social development will continue to improve. The comprehensive level of scientific and technological innovation in six provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Tianjin, and Zhejiang is leading the country. The leading role of innovation hubs such as science and technology innovation centers continues to improve, and the effectiveness of regional collaborative innovation development is further evident Xuan Zhaohui, Director of the Institute of Technology Forecasting and Statistical Analysis at the China Academy of Science and Technology Development Strategy, said. Xuan Zhaohui introduced that the leading advantages of innovation and development in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area have been further strengthened. 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei coordinated development strategy. Over the past decade, the drive for coordinated innovation in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region has continued to be strong. Beijing enterprises have invested 49000 times in enterprises in Tianjin and Hebei, with a total investment of 2.3 trillion yuan. At the same time, the construction of the Yangtze River Delta Science and Technology Innovation Community continues to accelerate, with 13 indicators including the number of invention patents, sales revenue of new products, and operating revenue of high-tech industries in the Yangtze River Delta accounting for over 30% of the national total. Guangdong, with the Pearl River Delta as its main base, maintains the highest index of investment in scientific and technological activities and the index of promoting economic and social development through science and technology in the country.
