The United Nations General Assembly declared July 6th as World Rural Development Day

On July 6th, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring July 6th as "World Rural Development Day" to highlight the importance of rural development and transformation in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The resolution invites all United Nations member states, organizations of the United Nations system, other international and regional organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations, individuals, and relevant stakeholders, including civil society, farmers' organizations, the private sector, and academia, to celebrate World Rural Development Day and to carry out and promote specific activities related to sustainable development in rural areas and communities at the national and regional levels.
