On the morning of September 4th, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Senegalese President Faye, who was attending the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation and on a state visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Senegal are friends and partners on the path of national development and revitalization. Over the years, the two sides have carried out cooperation in the spirit of sincerity, friendship, equal respect and win-win cooperation, and achieved tangible results that benefit the two peoples. China is willing to work hand in hand with Serbia to advance on their respective paths of modernization and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China is willing to strengthen the exchange of governance experience with Serbia, deepen political mutual trust, and continue to support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. Strengthen the alignment of development strategies and promote common development. China will continue to dispatch agricultural technology experts to support Serbia in building industrial parks, expanding cooperation in emerging fields such as new energy, and assisting Serbia in its industrialization and agricultural modernization process. China and Serbia have similar positions on many major international issues, and China is willing to closely cooperate with Serbia in multilateral cooperation to jointly safeguard international fairness, justice, and the common interests of developing countries.
Since China and Serbia served as the co chairs of the Forum for six years, China and Africa have overcome difficulties such as the COVID-19, successfully completed the "eight actions" and "nine projects" launched at the previous two sessions of the Forum, and pushed China Africa relations into a new stage. Senegal, as the fourth African co chair of the forum, has made significant contributions to the unity and cooperation between China and Africa. China is willing to closely cooperate with Serbia to lead this summit to a complete success, work together to promote modernization between China and Africa, and embark on a new journey of China Africa relations.
Faye said that I am honored to come to China for my first state visit and attend the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. Thank you for the warm hospitality from the Chinese side, which has allowed us to appreciate the beauty and friendship of China. Since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China in 2016, both sides have made continuous progress in their cooperation. The cooperation between Senegal and China has implemented many successful projects, promoting Senegal's economic development and improving people's livelihoods. Serbia firmly adheres to the One China principle, opposes politicizing human rights issues, is committed to consolidating and deepening Serbia China friendship with China, and is willing to learn from China's successful experience in governing the party and the country, promote cooperation in agriculture, industry, digitalization, vocational training, youth and other fields, and elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China to a higher level. The establishment and development of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation is based on friendly trust, mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation, practicality and efficiency, and has made important contributions to the economic and social development of Africa. The Serbian side is willing to work closely with China to ensure the success of the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Serbia highly appreciates President Xi Jinping's proposal to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. It appreciates China's commitment to promoting common development and fairness and justice, and is willing to strengthen multilateral communication and cooperation with China.
After the meeting, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents in areas such as implementing global development initiatives, investment and economic cooperation, information and communication technology, human resources, and green development.
Both sides issued a joint statement between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Senegal on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership and building a high-level China Senegal community with a shared future.
Before the meeting, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan held a welcoming ceremony for Faye and his wife Mary in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
