On September 3rd, it was learned from the press conference on the high-quality utilization of natural graphite held in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province that the research team of Wang Jionghui from China Minmetals Corporation has overcome the key technology of high-temperature purification of graphite and successfully developed ultra-high purity graphite products with a purity of over 99.99995%, marking that China's ultra-high purity graphite products have reached the international leading level. Ultra high purity graphite refers to graphite with a carbon content of over 99.99%, which has good self-lubricating properties, good conductivity, corrosion and high temperature resistance, and excellent chemical stability. The research team led by Wang Jionghui has broken through traditional industry design and collaborated with leading equipment manufacturing companies to independently develop a continuous graphite purification process and equipment. Through a combination of physical and chemical purification, low-temperature and high-temperature continuous purification, ultra-high vacuum purification, and multiple technology combinations, the purity of graphite has been increased from 95% to over 99.99995%, while maintaining stable product quality. What is commendable is that a reasonable joint process path gives the product a significant advantage in production cost. China Minmetals has the world's largest Hegang Yunshan graphite mine, with an annual output of 200000 tons of graphite beneficiation plant and deep processing industry chain. In the application of ultra-high purity graphite products, the Wang Jionghui team is accelerating the research and development of high-end negative electrode materials, nuclear grade graphite, and carbon based materials such as semiconductor graphite.
