On the afternoon of September 3rd, President Xi Jinping held talks with Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa, who was attending the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation and on a state visit, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the traditional friendship between China and Tianjin is profound. In recent years, under our joint leadership, the political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to deepen, and the cooperation has achieved remarkable results, becoming a model of solidarity and cooperation among developing countries. Next year, the two countries will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. China and Tianjin further consolidate and deepen their strong friendship, which is in line with the common expectations of the two peoples. Both sides should uphold the original intention of friendship, build a "five-star iron core" cooperation framework with politics, economy and trade, security, humanities, and international cooperation as the pillars, and work together to build a high-level China Tianjin community with a shared future.
Xi Jinping emphasized that the two parties have similar ideologies and solid mutual trust, which is the biggest advantage of China Tianjin relations. China supports Zimbabwe in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and development interests, opposes foreign interference and illegal sanctions, and is willing to strengthen exchanges of governance experience with Zimbabwe, and continue to firmly support each other. China is willing to deepen its development strategy with Zimbabwe, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in investment, trade, infrastructure, energy and mineral resources, clean energy, digital economy and other fields, build a China Africa connectivity network, and help Zimbabwe and Africa enhance their independent development capabilities. China is willing to continue providing scholarships for outstanding Zimbabwean students to study in China and promote people to people exchanges. The Chinese side highly appreciates Zimbabwe's support for various global initiatives and proposals put forward by the Chinese side, congratulates Zimbabwe on assuming the rotating presidency of the Southern African Development Community, and is willing to strengthen international cooperation with Zimbabwe, promote the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and work together to defend international fairness and justice.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China has always regarded the development of relations with African countries as the cornerstone of its foreign policy, firmly supporting African countries to pursue an independent and self reliant development path, and supporting Africa to become an important pole in the world's political, economic, and cultural development. The Forum on China Africa Cooperation is the most important platform and mechanism for strengthening solidarity and cooperation between China and Africa, and has become a banner leading international cooperation with Africa. China is willing to work with Africa to make this forum summit a new milestone event in the history of China Africa relations, clarifying the direction and path of China Africa cooperation in promoting modernization.
Mnangagwa said that during his visit to China, he visited Hunan, Shenzhen, and Nanjing, and was deeply inspired and inspired. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has achieved great development achievements, and many Chinese technologies and enterprises are at the forefront of the world.   Thank China for providing valuable support for Zimbabwe's economic and social development, including the fight against the COVID-19. China's help and cooperation have benefited the Zimbabwean people and created new business cards of Zimbabwe China friendship in a new era. Zimbabwe is willing to strengthen the exchange of experience in governing the country and the party with China, deepen cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, minerals, new energy and other fields, and assist Zimbabwe's modernization process. The Zimbabwean side thanks China for speaking up for the Zimbabwean side in international occasions, appreciates China's constructive role in international and regional affairs such as the Ukraine crisis and the Israeli Palestinian conflict, supports President Xi Jinping's series of global initiatives, and is willing to closely cooperate with China in multilateral cooperation. Tianjin adheres to the One China principle and is willing to continue to be a firm and close friend of China in southern Africa, working together with China to promote greater development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tianjin and China. After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents on the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", global development initiatives, economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, avocado exports to China, news and other fields.
Both sides issued a joint statement between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Zimbabwe on deepening and enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership and building a high-level China Zimbabwe community with a shared future.
Before the talks, Xi Jinping held a welcoming ceremony for Mnangagwa in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
