The Chinese single player game "Black Myth: Wukong", set against the backdrop of the Chinese fantasy novel "Journey to the West", was launched globally on the 20th. As of the time of writing, the game has topped the global hot play list on the well-known Steam gaming platform, with over 1.4 million online players. Since the pre-sale began on June 8th this year, the game has sold well. The reporter saw on the Steam platform that its sales have ranked first in the world in the past week. This game is developed using the world's leading Unreal Engine 5 technology, with static lighting, dynamic effects, and game graphics that can reach movie level. Players take on the role of a monkey in the game and travel to multiple ancient destinations to explore the stories behind various characters. The industry believes that the game is well made, coupled with the super IP "Sun Wukong", which gathers all the elements that a popular game should have, making it highly competitive in the global market. Currently, with multiple overseas media outlets releasing review ratings, the game has been rated over 80 points on the global game rating website Metacritic. Even before its release, the game had already gained attention overseas, and players from some countries began reading the English translation of Journey to the West. Japanese game producer Hideo Kojima, who has produced well-known games such as "Metal Gear Solid" and "Death Stranding," tweeted that he has been interested in this game since seeing its first trailer. This game, with Journey to the West as its background, contains well-known ancient buildings in many places in China. Its architectural models were investigated and restored by the game team on the spot, such as the Thousand Hand Avalokitesvara in Dazu Rock Carvings, Chongqing. Among them, Xiaoxitian, Yuhuang Temple, Tiefo Temple, etc. are all taken from cultural relics in various parts of China, which has led to a wave of "card punching fever" in the tourism industry. Associate Professor Zeng Tu from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts analyzed that the combination of "game+ancient architecture" has long been a precedent in the world. This game highly restores a large number of Chinese ancient architecture and also provides opportunities for Chinese and foreign players to learn about Chinese ancient architecture knowledge.
