The media briefing of Beijing International Design Week was recently held in Beijing. It was reported that the first China International Craft Innovation Expo will debut at the National Agricultural Exhibition Hall from September 19 to 23, and more than 100 artists from more than 20 countries will join the expo. It is reported that the first China International Craft Innovation Expo is one of the eight key boutique cultural exchange projects of this year's Sino French Cultural Tourism Year, and has been included in the framework of "Sino French Cultural Spring - Special Presentation on the 60th Anniversary of Sino French Diplomatic Relations". The exhibited works at this expo were selected by 12 international judges from different countries who have significant influence in the industry. The expo will showcase contemporary handicrafts from over 20 countries including China, France, Morocco, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan. The main visual section has invited renowned French textile material artist Simone Pheulpin, Central Academy of Fine Arts professor Wu Jian'an, and Benin ceramic artist King Houndekpinkou. The national booths are respectively led by the Catalonia Chamber of Commerce, Handicraft and Fashion in Spain, the French Arts Union in France, the Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports in Georgia, the Inter American Folk Art Center in Ecuador, and the World Handicraft Council Africa Region in Egypt. The special exhibition booth invited collaborative works from 5 top brands and artists. In the international dialogue section, the organizers will organize academic forums with different themes every day, inviting well-known artists, scholars, and institutional leaders from home and abroad to give speeches and discuss hot topics in the field of handicrafts, jointly exploring new trends in international handicraft development and opening a new chapter of multicultural exchange.
