Transferring money on behalf of someone is actually a part of fraud! Be wary of new tricks in electronic fraud
2024-08-15
The current tactics of telecommunications fraud are constantly evolving, with a wide variety of methods. It is worth noting that in addition to defrauding money, telecom fraudsters are also trying to win over the masses. Many people can become "tools" and inadvertently help telecom fraudsters complete their criminal activities together. The methods used by electronic fraudsters to lure the public into becoming "tool people" are mostly "hidden money" that is difficult to identify. It may seem like a small effort with dividends, but in fact it will cross the legal red line. How can we be vigilant and prevent it? Bank cards and mobile phones need to be held tightly to transfer money on behalf of others, which is actually a part of fraud. With the emergence of electronic fraud, bank cards and mobile phones have gradually become important tools for telecom and network fraudsters to carry out fraud and transfer stolen funds. Criminals often use the gimmick of "making big money lying down" to lure others to rent or sell bank cards and mobile phone cards with "high returns". This type of crime is also known as "two card" crime. At the age of 20, Xiao Xu fell into the criminal trap of renting and selling "two cards" and became an accomplice to fraudsters. One day, a new friend I met on social media told Xiaoxu that he could easily earn money by lending his bank card or mobile phone card to others for transfer. For every 10000 yuan transferred, there would be a 200 yuan hard work fee. The next day, Xiao Xu, who was deeply moved, used his bank card to cash out and completed a transfer of 120000 yuan. The other party paid Xiao Xu 2400 yuan in cash and the remaining 200 yuan in the bank card as compensation. Soon, Xiaoxu found that his bank card had been frozen. Realizing the problem, Xiao Xu thought twice and finally chose to report the situation to the public security organs. After investigation by the police, Xiao Xu's bank account involved a total of over 410000 yuan in funds and bank transactions, and was involved in 9 fraud cases. Xiao Xu's behavior has constituted a crime. In the end, Xiao Xu was sentenced to five months of detention, six months of probation, and a fine of RMB 2000 for concealing and covering up the crime. The "two card" crime is a new type of crime with complex and diverse forms. Due to weak legal awareness, some people are often easily lured and lured by fraudsters for small profits, and thus become "tools" and "accomplices" of the crime. Zhao, who is over 60 years old in Benxi, Liaoning, sold his three bank cards to a criminal gang for transfer. With a daily turnover of several million yuan, Zhao can earn profits ranging from 1000 to 1500 yuan per day. The police traced the clues and arrested Liu and Ren, who bought cards from him, and found that they were using the purchased bank cards to "run points". At the scene of the arrest, there were 50 mobile phones and 50 bank cards working to transfer money. The so-called "running points" refers to using bank cards or shopping cards to assist illegal criminal groups such as telecommunications and network fraud in providing channels for illegal fund transfer, and using "running points" to launder stolen funds. Criminal gangs transfer the funds obtained from fraud into the accounts of multiple "shell" companies, then recruit "downlines" with high compensation, and command them to purchase shopping cards from shopping centers or supermarkets in the name of these "shell" companies. They use "scalpers" to cash out or purchase physical goods such as gold online to achieve the goal of "money laundering". Among the mobile phones seized at the scene, multiple saved videos caught the attention of the police. Some of the people in these videos opened their mouths, some blinked, and some turned their heads to make various movements. After investigation by the police, it was found that the criminals used artificial intelligence technology to forge facial recognition for identity verification. Peng Xinfa, the leader of the second brigade of the investigation detachment of the crime of wire fraud of Benxi Public Security Bureau in Liaoning Province: The suspect obtains the photo of the cardholder, uses the photo of the cardholder, and uses AI technology to generate moving pictures or videos to cheat the bank's face verification system, so as to carry out more rapid and frequent transfers to achieve the purpose of money laundering. At present, four defendants in this case have been held criminally responsible in accordance with the law. Among them, Zhao, who sold multiple bank cards for illegal profit, was sentenced to eight months in prison for the crime of obstructing credit card management. Hu Zhiwei, Deputy Director of the Guidance Division of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security for Cracking Down on New Cyber Crime: Don't think it is very small to help telecom network fraud, such as selling your own bank card, mobile phone card and Internet account. The bank card you sell may cause property losses to dozens of people, the phone card you rent may make fraud calls to hundreds of people, and the Internet account you rent may send fraud information to tens of thousands of people, causing them to be defrauded.
