At 7:30 am local time on August 4th, the peaceful town of Guca in central Serbia was awakened by bursts of brass music. Accompanied by a resounding rhythm and a stirring melody, the audience gathered in circles, holding hands and dancing the traditional Serbian dance Koro. The busiest day of the year in Gucha Town began like this. Kucha is over 100 kilometers away from the capital Belgrade and has a permanent population of about 2000 people. Every year at this time, a grand Copper Number Festival is held here. This year is the 63rd edition and lasts for 3 days. According to local media reports, during this year's Copper Number Festival, Gucha Town is expected to receive nearly 150000 tourists per day. After the morning brass music performance lasting about half an hour, coffee shops, pubs, and shops of all sizes in the town of Gucha opened one after another. The crowd that had just dispersed quickly found their place, served their first cup of coffee in the morning, and then had a traditional stuffed breakfast - fried eggs, fried bacon, tomato salad, and unique cream cheese. After a meal of supplies, everyone began to look forward to the next highlight - holding a traditional Serbian wedding for a couple in Gucha town, which is also one of the must-have events of the annual Copper Festival. At noon, people gathered at the Wishing Pool Square in front of the Gucha Small Museum. Under the guidance of two elders in the town, the groom and bride entered and completed various traditional ceremonies in turn. There were hundreds of participants in the ceremony, all of whom were residents of the town and dressed in traditional Serbian costumes. After the ceremony, the bride rode a horse and, accompanied by the groom, led a wedding procession of hundreds of people around the streets of Gucha to the sound of a brass band. At this time, Gucha Town was already very lively, with copper horn performances everywhere, and tourists pulling hands, forming circles, and dancing. In front of large and small restaurants, there are the most famous Roasted sucking pig or Roasted baby pig, roast mutton, and large and small earthen pots, in which pickled Chinese cabbage stew, a famous dish of Gucha wedding banquet, is stewed. Maria Tomashevich opened a shop near the town of Gucha, and this was her first time participating in the Copper Festival and selling homemade cheesecake and other desserts. There are many beautiful things here, from ethnic costumes to our traditional and ancient handicrafts. Over the years, people have been working hard to maintain tradition, "she said. And for me, the best moment is when the trumpeters play the Coro dance, "said Nicolina Tomic, a 12-year-old girl from the nearby town of Luchany. The 16 best brass bands from Serbia and nearly 200 musicians will compete for the first band and gold medal musician awards in the evening's competition. The brass concert lasted until midnight. Tourists, brass music enthusiasts, and performing artists from all over the world have added new melodies to the unique traditions and history of this small town. (New Society)
