Medical Imaging and Biotechnology Collaborate with Tencent to Empower Drug Design Transformation with Quantum Computing

2024-08-02

On July 23rd, Yitu Biotech (Suzhou) Life Science Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Quantum Laboratory, China Pharmaceutical University, and Ningbo Institute of Engineering, published a paper titled "A Hybrid Architecture Quantum Computing Framework for Real World Drug Discovery" in the journal Scientific Reports. This study aims to explore the potential of quantum computing in drug molecular dynamics simulation, electronic structure description of chemical reaction regions, drug screening and optimization, and verify its feasibility in practical drug design. The research team believes that with the improvement of quantum computer hardware capabilities, quantum computing will bring huge opportunities for transformation to the industry in the future. The research results of applying quantum computing to drug design this time will bring more efficient and accurate solutions for future drug development, and promote the continuous innovation and development of the pharmaceutical industry. Research has found that in terms of computational accuracy, the errors generated by quantum hybrid computing are acceptable in practical drug design scenarios. Quantum hybrid computers have been able to achieve the task goals of classical computers in solving the Schr ö dinger equation. More importantly, its calculation error falls within the allowable error range of a specific biological system. In the field of pharmaceutical design at the current stage, quantum computing has become an important innovative means that can be used as a production tool, according to the medical and biotechnology department. With the further improvement of hardware performance in the future, quantum computers will bring more innovative revolutionary achievements in this field. The Medical Imaging Department will further strengthen its cooperation with Tencent Quantum Laboratory to complete the commercial operation of quantum computing. (New Society)
