Expert Recruitment for Health Preservation of Cardiovascular Disease Patients in the Summer Season
2024-08-01
During the hot summer season, continuous high temperatures may pose a certain threat to human health, especially for patients with cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, which is a significant challenge. Experts suggest that patients with cardiovascular disease should actively prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular accidents such as acute myocardial infarction. Professor Yu Guolong from the Department of Cardiology at Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, introduced that acute myocardial infarction is caused by a rapid reduction or interruption of coronary artery blood supply in the human body, resulting in severe and persistent ischemia of the corresponding myocardium, leading to acute myocardial ischemic necrosis. If patients cannot receive timely treatment, the mortality rate is relatively high. In hot weather, patients with coronary heart disease experience peripheral arterial dilation, sweating more, blood pressure drops, and even hypotension, leading to a decrease in coronary blood flow and insufficient myocardial blood supply, increasing the risk of acute myocardial infarction. Fan Wenjuan, Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of Cardiology at Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, suggests that patients with cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease should pay attention to heatstroke prevention and cooling, arrange their sleep schedule reasonably, and avoid staying up late and overexertion. It is best for patients to exercise in the early morning or evening, and they can choose low-intensity aerobic exercises such as walking and jogging. Do not exercise under the scorching sun, and the exercise time should not be too long; Patients should eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, and other foods rich in vitamins and fiber in summer, and avoid excessive intake of high-fat and high salt foods. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure sufficient water intake and reduce blood viscosity. Yu Guolong suggests that cardiovascular disease patients should closely monitor their physical condition during hot weather, take medication on time, and hypertension patients should regularly measure their blood pressure. They should not reduce or stop taking medication on their own, and should also undergo regular check ups. Once discomfort symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, and chest pain occur, seek medical attention promptly to avoid delaying treatment. (New Society)
