On the 27th, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng delivered a speech via video at a seminar commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. He reviewed the original intention of the two countries in establishing diplomatic relations and looked forward to the future of China US relations. Xie Feng stated that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States is a milestone in the history of China US relations and international relations, as well as a major event that benefits the people of both countries and promotes world peace and prosperity. Over the past 45 years, the development of China US relations has achieved tremendous success, growing into one of the most deeply integrated, cooperative, and mutually beneficial bilateral relationships in the world. Xie Feng said that the history and reality of China US relations provide us with three insights. Firstly, hostility leads to mutual loss, and partners are the correct positioning for China and the United States. If both sides consider each other as partners, the relationship between China and the United States will gradually improve. Secondly, differences are not scary, dialogue is the correct way to solve problems. We should continue to increase mutual trust and resolve differences through dialogue, and discuss more when faced with problems and make things easier to discuss. Thirdly, the path of decoupling is not feasible, and cooperation is the correct choice to achieve win-win outcomes. We should achieve mutual success rather than harm each other, lengthen the list of cooperation, shorten the negative list, and use successful stories of dialogue and cooperation to hedge the negative narrative of zero sum games. This seminar is hosted by the overseas Chinese community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
