The 46th UNESCO World Heritage Conference held in New Delhi, India, recently passed a resolution to include the ruins of the ancient city of Gedi in Kenya in the The World Heritage List. Gedi Ancient City, located in Kilifi County along the coast of Kenya, is a relic of the Swahili town. The existing ruins of Gedi Ancient City are surrounded by dense native forests, preserving residential, religious, urban buildings, and advanced water systems of the time, showcasing the once prosperous outline of the town and reflecting the architectural style of Swahili civilization.
