2024-07-26

This year's forum will open for the first time the "Conference on Physical Science" and the "Forum on Basic Science and Interdisciplinary Frontiers", and for the first time open the public registration channel, giving the public the opportunity to have close contact with world top science award winners such as the Nobel Prize, Turing Award, and Wolf Prize. The theme of this year's Top Science Forum is "Excellent Science, Innovation for Success", and it will continue the iconic main structure of the "Three Conferences". Three large-scale forums will be held around the clock on October 26th. The "Material Science Conference" is the first "New Face" held this year, which focuses on the cutting-edge research and innovative applications of energy and materials technology, and explores the profound impact of material science on the development of civilization. The co chairs will be Michael Glazer, winner of the 2012 Einstein World Science Prize, and Yang Peidong, winner of the 2015 MacArthur Genius Award. The "Life Science Conference" will be jointly organized by the World Top Scientists Association (WLA) and Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. Bruce Stillman, the winner of the Geldner Prize in 2019, together with Chen Zhu, an academician of the CAS Member, president of the Red Cross Society of China, and a tenured professor of Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, will serve as the chairman of the conference. This conference will delve into the latest developments in the field of medicine and the training path for future outstanding physicians scientists from both technical and ethical perspectives. The Intelligent Science Conference, chaired by Martin Herrmann, the 2015 Turing Award winner, will specifically focus on the profound changes and potential threats that artificial intelligence (AI) technology brings to society, and explore the global AI regulatory system. In addition, this forum will also create the first "Basic Science and Interdisciplinary Frontiers Forum", focusing on the most popular RNA and green technology fields, sharing the latest progress, industrial potential, and forward-looking insights in scientific research. This forum will continue to deepen the Youth Scientists Conference and Youth Science HUB to showcase the collective style of outstanding young scientists, showcase the extraordinary charm of outstanding female scientists through the "She" forum, showcase the path of seeking knowledge and truth for outstanding scientific youth through the Science T Conference, and showcase the unremitting efforts of scientists and entrepreneurs to break through the economic cycle with scientific power through the roundtable meeting of entrepreneurs. This year, many old friends of "Dingke" will be present in person, such as Joachim Frank, the father of cryoelectron microscopy and the winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Dan Shechtman, executive chairman of the Wolf Foundation and the winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and Joseph Swakis, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the winner of the 2007 Turing Prize. Several new friends from top tier universities will make their debut. Jeffrey Carey, the recipient of the 2023 Wolf Prize in Chemistry and the title professor of the Department of Chemistry at the Scripps Research Institute in the United States, will bring new ideas for treating diseases caused by protein misfolding; Thomas Gasser, the winner of the 2024 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences and the research director of the Medical School at the University of T ü bingen in Germany, will share his significant discovery on the most common genetic causes of Parkinson's disease; Andrew Singleton, another recipient of the 2024 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences and director of the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia Center at the National Institutes of Health in the United States, will introduce cutting-edge advances in neurological diseases. A group of outstanding Chinese scientists will also participate in the grand event for the first time. This includes He Chuan, a recipient of the 2023 Wolf Prize in Chemistry, a distinguished title professor at the University of Chicago, and a researcher at the Howard Hughes Institute, who is known as the "pioneer of RNA epigenetics"; Superconductor physicist, second president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, director of the Superconductivity Research Center at the University of Houston in the United States, and professor of physics, Zhu Jingwu; Kang Yibin, recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award from the American Society for Cancer Research in 2012 and a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University in the United States. The official website of the 2024 Top Science Forum will be launched today, and the public can access it through the website( https://2024.wlaforum.com )Understand the information of attending guests and the real-time updates of forum preparation, and register for early bird tickets to lock in the opportunity to meet top scientists face-to-face in advance.
