To turn ecological resources into industries that benefit the people, the key is to vigorously develop new quality productive forces, and explore the path of technological empowerment to achieve industrialization, informatization, intelligence, and greening. Chongming District, located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, is the largest rural area in Shanghai, supplying one-third of the city's real estate agricultural products with one-fifth of its land area. The level of agricultural development in Chongming is directly related to Shanghai's "rice bags," "vegetable baskets," and "meat plates. Meanwhile, Chongming carries about 40% of the city's ecological resources and 50% of its ecological service functions, making it the area with the best water bodies, air quality, widest forest area, and richest biodiversity in Shanghai. How to transform ecological advantages into economic advantages and turn ecological resources into industries that benefit the people is a realistic proposition for Chongming. Last year, Chongming explicitly proposed to build a "Yangtze River Delta Agricultural Silicon Valley", opening up three new tracks of characteristic seed sources, intelligent manufacturing, and green ecology. 32 enterprises have registered locally and are gradually settling in. On July 18th, Chongming District held a conference on "Accelerating the Development of Agricultural New Quality Productivity and Promoting the Construction of Chongming World Class Ecological Island with High Standards" (hereinafter referred to as the "Conference"), announcing the support policies for the Yangtze River Delta Agricultural Silicon Valley, signing strategic cooperation agreements with 9 scientific research units, and signing contracts with more than 20 high-quality enterprises. The conference will focus on key areas such as seed agriculture, bio agriculture, and facility agriculture, and jointly promote the landing of related industrial projects. The top-level design of the Chongming White Goat Industry Chain is located at the Chongming White Goat Breeding Research Center in Aiguo Village, Zhongxing Town, Chongming District. On one wall, the history of Chongming people raising white goats since the Ming Dynasty is recorded, while on the other wall, a large screen displays in real-time the health status, behavioral characteristics, as well as environmental information such as temperature, humidity, and noise of the sheep in the "Smart Sheep Farm". The reporter learned that Chongming White Goat is a traditional specialty of Chongming and a national geographical indication agricultural product. In Shanghai, Chongming white goats are popular for their delicate meat and delicious taste without being gamey. However, due to the successive crossbreeding of local white goats with imported Boer sheep throughout history, local farmers are more willing to raise large and high-yield imported or hybrid goats. As a result, purebred local white goats are becoming increasingly rare, and the breed is severely degraded. As a nationally protected and developed livestock breed, in recent years, the number of purebred Chongming white goats has been less than 1000, making the road to industrial development difficult. In 2023, Chongming will introduce Shanghai Liuji Yuanzhi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Liuji Yuanzhi"), which specializes in improving germplasm resources, and deeply cooperate with Chongming White Goat Group's Wanhe Base. By relying on modern breeding biotechnology such as genome testing, live egg collection, in vitro fertilization, and embryo transfer for purebred individuals or populations with particularly excellent performance, the genetic level and population size of excellent germplasm resources will be improved. In order to put the delicious and high-quality Baishan lamb on the dining tables of thousands of households, Chongming District will continue to introduce a team of experts to carry out the next step of work this year. At the conference on July 18th, Zhang Yanli, a post scientist of the National Sheep Industry Technology System and Vice Dean of the School of Animal Science and Technology at Nanjing Agricultural University, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chongming District Agriculture and Rural Committee on behalf of Nanjing Agricultural University. The two sides will jointly improve the top-level design of the Chongming white goat industry chain. Zhang Yanli said, "With high-quality seed sources, the next step is not only to do a good job in seed conservation, but also to innovate and utilize products, save costs and increase efficiency, further improve their growth rate and meat quality, reduce the cost of raising sheep for the people, and promote the brand of Chongming goats outside Shanghai." On July 18th, the reporter met Yang Huanling, an assistant researcher at the Edible Fungi Research Institute of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in the agricultural product exhibition area outside the conference venue. This 90s Shandong girl aspires to work in agriculture. After graduating with a Master's degree in Bioengineering from Nanjing Agricultural University in 2018, she came to Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences and is currently conducting research on breeding and cultivation of edible and medicinal fungi such as deer antler fungus. Yang Huanling often comes to the mushroom planting base in Chongming to teach local farmers cultivation techniques. She said, "Our team is promoting the cultivation techniques of big ball mushroom and morel mushroom in Chongming. The next step will be to promote Sanghuang, a edible and medicinal fungus found on mulberry trees. Now we are using new substrates such as sawdust to cultivate it in factories, allowing farmers to use local materials and reduce production costs, thereby increasing income." In Chongming, the mushroom industry is not only iterating varieties, but also constantly improving the industrial chain elements. Last year, Shanghai Weidi Technology Co., Ltd., an agricultural facility production, operation, and management enterprise, settled in the Agricultural Silicon Valley of the Yangtze River Delta, aiming to provide the best solution for agricultural production. It can collect real-time data on air temperature and humidity, soil temperature, carbon dioxide concentration, etc. in the greenhouse, and rely on self-developed agricultural smart system background monitoring to achieve clear visibility of vegetable growth, fertilization requirements, and picking time in the base. Shanghai Hengze Enterprise Development Co., Ltd., which has settled in the Agricultural Silicon Valley of the Yangtze River Delta, is a company specializing in mushroom production, operation, and sales. The chairman of the company, Zhu Wenfeng, told reporters that the company has collaborated with research teams from universities such as Tsinghua University and Tongji University to develop a series of plant growth models and automatic harvesting management robots. A modern factory will be built in Chongming to produce and sell shiitake mushrooms using these technologies. The annual demand for shiitake mushrooms in Shanghai is over 70000 tons, and our estimated annual output is 12000 tons. Compared to traditional production methods, we reduce labor by about 80% during the planting stage, and increase labor in precision sorting, packaging, and fresh logistics supply, freeing people from simple and repetitive low-level labor to engage in more technical work. "Zhu Wenfeng said that the company has previously applied this mushroom production system in Jiangsu, Jiangxi, and other places, and now chooses to settle in Chongming because it sees the advantages of the industry chain and policy incentives here. Firstly, the industrial chain environment in Chongming is good, with raw materials such as wheat straw and rice straw needed by our mushroom industry. Chongming is an important vegetable production base in Shanghai, with complete supporting policies, such as straw recycling and agricultural waste application. Thirdly, Shanghai has a large number of technical talents, which can provide talent resources for our subsequent iterative research and development of artificial intelligence and high-end equipment business. "The reporter learned at the conference that recently, the Chongming District Agriculture and Rural Committee and the District Finance Bureau jointly issued the" Measures for Promoting the Construction of the Yangtze River Delta Agricultural Silicon Valley and Accelerating the High quality Development of Modern Agriculture (Trial) ", providing office, research and development services, achievement transformation subsidies, financial policies, talents and other aspects for enterprises engaged in agricultural production in the Yangtze River Delta Agricultural Silicon Valley. The guarantee, And establish a system of enterprise policy service packages to further support technological innovation in enterprises with "real money and silver". On July 18th, at the conference, Cai Youming, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, delivered a keynote speech titled "Empowering Agricultural New Quality Productivity with Technology and Supporting the Construction of Chongming's World Class Ecological Island". He said that agriculture in Chongming accounts for a relatively large proportion in Shanghai, but the shortcoming is that the per capita income of Chongming farmers is less than 80% of the per capita income of farmers in the city. Cai Youming said that the key to transforming ecological advantages into economic advantages and turning ecological resources into industries that benefit the people is to vigorously develop new quality productive forces. The exploration path is to empower technology, achieve industrialization, informatization, intelligence, and greening. To drive high-quality development through technological innovation, and ultimately achieve a better ecological environment, a more developed economy, a more harmonious society, and a richer people on Chongming's world-class ecological island. The high-tech "blessing" of ecological agriculture will gradually help Chongming farmers increase their income. At the Kangma Protein Technology Agricultural Demonstration Base in Zhongxing Town, Chongming, the reporter met with technician Zhan Rongrong who was checking the growth status of Sichuan pepper and Sichuan pepper. She introduced to the reporter that in Chongming, she and her colleagues are testing and promoting a series of organic water-soluble fertilizers applied to crops such as rice, vegetables, and flowers. From the experimental results, it can be seen that the growth rate, fruit setting rate, and yield of these chili peppers have been significantly improved. During the planting process, the use of fertilizers can also be reduced and soil quality can be improved. Six years ago, Zhan Rongrong graduated from Fudan University as a postdoctoral fellow in genetic biology and came to Kangma (Shanghai) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to engage in research and development work. The company is a synthetic biology enterprise with globally leading cell-free in vitro protein synthesis technology, and has independently developed a protein intelligent algorithm design platform (D2PLAB) and a cell-free in vitro protein synthesis technology platform (D2P). When the company was developing and testing a protein product for sand fixation, it was discovered that crops that originally didn't grow much in the desert actually grew very well. So, the company expanded into the agricultural sector and established a subsidiary, Kangma High Yield (Shanghai) Biotechnology Co., Ltd., to develop protein nutrient solutions for improving crop quality and increasing yield. In recent years, the company has applied and promoted nutrient solutions for crops such as wheat, rice, corn, watermelon, and grapes in Xinjiang, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, and other places, achieving gratifying results in crop yield increase, disease resistance, reduced pesticide application, and improved soil environment. The cost of the products is controllable and has strong application and promotion value. The postdoctoral fellow came out to "plant vegetables", and Zhan Rongrong felt it was very meaningful. In fact, 70-80% of the staff in her team are masters or PhDs. I used to work in the field of biology, but now our achievements have shown significant results in agriculture. They can improve soil and help farmers increase their income. I think this is a very meaningful thing
