Currently, unreasonable dietary patterns such as high sodium, high fat, and high sugar have become prominent issues affecting people's health. To prevent overweight, obesity, and chronic diseases in children and adolescents, and to help build a healthy eating environment, the Chinese Nutrition Society organized a scientific conference on the Chinese Nutrient Measurement Model in Beijing on July 8th, and released the "Chinese Nutrient Measurement Model Scientific Report" (hereinafter referred to as the NP Model Report). The meeting was chaired by Ma Aiguo, Executive Vice Chairman of the Chinese Nutrition Society. Representatives from the National Health Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Women and Children's Working Committee of the State Council, the Nutrition and Health Institute of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center, the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, the Beijing Youth Legal Aid and Research Center, the China Advertising Association, and other institutions, hospitals, and societies, totaling more than 200 people, attended the meeting. In addition, representatives from international organizations, including the United Nations Children's Fund, also attended the conference to discuss the latest research progress and applications of nutrient measurement models. According to the definition of the World Health Organization, nutrient profiling refers to the scientific classification or ranking of food based on its nutritional content for the purpose of preventing disease and promoting health. At present, it is recommended internationally to use nutrient measurement methods to classify and rank food, and to develop corresponding nutrient measurement models for nutritional evaluation of food, in order to provide scientific basis for the formulation of relevant policies. The World Health Organization and multiple countries have adopted nutrient measurement methods to construct different nutrient measurement models, and have played an important role in promoting Front of Package Labeling, restricting marketing and advertising to children, promoting health claims, and advancing corporate formula improvement. In recent years, with the increasing burden of global obesity and chronic diseases, the development and application of nutrient measurement models have received more and more attention from countries and academia. This is mainly because, based on the increasing occurrence and development of chronic diseases, controlling risk factors has become one of the most effective measures in situations where medication and surgery are difficult to control Yang Yuexin, Chairman of the Chinese Nutrition Society, pointed out in her speech that the newly released Chinese nutrient measurement model is of great significance in regulating the marketing of "high salt, high-fat, high sugar" foods to children and promoting the implementation of healthy eating policies. Dong Jingyu, a third level researcher from the Food Department of the National Health Commission, and Amanda Bissex, the Deputy Representative of UNICEF in China, expressed in their speeches that they hope this conference can provide scientific basis for relevant policy formulation and promote the further implementation of the Healthy China strategy. According to the UK Ofcom FSA model, the French nutrition rating label uses the ABCDE five levels corresponding to the nutritional and health level of food, known as the five color nutrition label, which is marked with dark green, light green, yellow, orange red, and red, respectively. Among them, letter A represents the most nutritious and healthy food, and letter E represents the lowest or highest level of nutritional and unhealthy food; That is to say, dark green foods encourage frequent consumption, while red foods suggest eating less Dr. Ali Shirazi, Director of Health and Nutrition at the UNICEF China Office, provided a brief introduction to the international definition of nutrient profiling and the overview and application of different NP models developed by multiple countries around the world based on nutrient profiling. The results of the global disease burden study show that excessive intake of high sodium, high-fat, and high sugar foods, as well as insufficient intake of whole grains and fresh vegetables and fruits, have become the main risk factors for the diet of Chinese residents. The significant increase in obesity rates, especially among children and adolescents, has become an important public health issue Professor Han Junhua, Secretary General of the Chinese Nutrition Society, introduced the scientific development process and development goals of the Chinese NP model. She pointed out that in order to implement the Law on the Protection of Minors and promote children's health, it is necessary to develop a nutrient measurement model suitable for China. To this end, the Chinese Nutrition Society and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, together with domestic and foreign nutrition professional institutions, have worked hard for three years to construct the Chinese Nutrient Measurement Model, aiming to standardize the marketing of unhealthy foods to children. Professor Kalpana Bhaskaran, President of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetic Association, and Xu Yili, Director of the Food Safety Standards and Monitoring Evaluation Department of the Shanghai Health Commission, shared their innovative explorations in the field of positive food labeling both internationally and domestically. The nutrition selection grading labeling in Shanghai mainly refers to domestic and foreign standards, considers the distribution of beverage nutrients and the intake of beverages by the population, and ultimately evaluates beverages comprehensively based on the content of non dairy sugars, saturated fats, trans fatty acids, and non sugar seasonings. Beverages are classified into A, B, C, and D grades, with the recommendation level decreasing from A to D Xu Yili said that the pilot program of nutrition selection grading labeling has attracted widespread attention from society and has played a good role in guiding people's consumption. After the pilot, many enterprises actively carried out formula improvement, and the proportion of optimized product formulas exceeded 15%. In the future, Shanghai will continue to make efforts in product stability evaluation, exploration of pilot mechanisms, promotion of project implementation, and evaluation of effects in different periods, scenarios, and populations. In the subsequent interview session, Yang Xiaoguang, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Nutrition Society, Professor Chang Suying, Nutrition Expert from the Child Development Department of the UNICEF China Office, Zang Jiajie, Director of the Nutrition and Health Department of the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Gao Chao, Associate Researcher at the Nutrition and Health Institute of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Cao Ying, Director of Health Strategy, attended and answered questions from the media on site. The interview was hosted by Professor Zhu Wang from the Institute of Nutrition and Health of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The attending experts analyzed and introduced the international status of the NP model, the importance of NP model development in China, and the methods for developing NP models. Yang Yuexin, Chairman of the Chinese Nutrition Society, called on all sectors of society to actively participate in the promotion and practice of nutrition and health during the summary meeting, and work together to build a healthy China, achieve the goal of national health, and create a healthy eating environment for Chinese children.
