2024-07-17
On the 16th, the Yangtze River Delta (Yancheng) Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test Site, the first large-scale comprehensive enclosed intelligent connected vehicle test site in China that covers all scenario requirements for intelligent connected vehicles and autonomous driving capability testing, began operation. The test field is built by CAIC Research Automotive Test Field Co., Ltd., which is controlled by China Automotive Technology Research Center Co., Ltd., and is specially used for the research, development and testing of intelligent connected vehicles and autonomous vehicle. The Yangtze River Delta (Yancheng) Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test Field has invested a total of 1.5 billion yuan, covering an area of about 4000 acres. It has built 8 testing roads dedicated to intelligent connected vehicles, a 32000 square meter laboratory, and a supporting four in one comprehensive energy center for oil, electricity, hydrogen, and alcohol. This test site is committed to creating a world-class automotive research and development testing cluster, which can cover all scenario requirements for intelligent connected vehicles and autonomous driving capability testing, while meeting the full testing capabilities of heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Currently, the global automotive industry is undergoing profound adjustments and restructuring, and new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles are opportunities and directions for the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry Chang'an Tiecheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of China Automotive Technology Research Center Co., Ltd., stated that the Yangtze River Delta (Yancheng) Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test Field will effectively promote the transformation and development of China's automotive industry towards high-end, intelligent, and green development. Ouyang Tao, Secretary of the Party Branch and General Manager of China Automotive Research Institute Automotive Test Field Co., Ltd., introduced that since the start of construction, the Yangtze River Delta (Yancheng) Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test Field has overcome difficulties such as lack of reference examples at home and abroad, complex construction processes, high precision requirements, multiple cross operations, and long construction periods. The experimental site was built and put into operation with high quality over a period of 3 years, and has multiple industry firsts. For example, the test site has the world's first and only real tunnel scene built in a closed car test site, which can test the perception, calculation, decision-making, execution and other functions of intelligent connected vehicles when there is no GPS positioning signal and network signals are blocked. In addition, the intelligent networked multi lane performance road at the test site has a straight section length of 2100 meters and a width of 24 meters, which can reach 10 lanes when combined with the intelligent networked high-speed ring road. The test road was also designed with consideration for the testing requirements of future flying vehicles. In addition to meeting the testing needs of intelligent connected vehicles, it can also serve the testing of general aviation aircraft and contribute to the development of low altitude economy.
