China's marine engineering technology innovation has achieved fruitful results

Recently, the "Central Enterprise Marine Engineering Technology Innovation Consortium" led by China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd. was established in Beijing. Putting human eyes on the seabed, the Earth's surface ocean accounts for 71%, of which the deep sea accounts for 60%, with an average depth of 3700 meters. Since the 20th century, scientists have been exploring the deep sea, such as its impact on global climate change, deep-sea metal deposits, and the deep biosphere of the seabed. There are three major technological methods for exploring the deep sea: deep drilling, deep-sea diving, and deep nets. Ocean drilling has a history of 56 years, with the participation of 22 countries. It is the largest, longest lasting, and most significant international scientific program in the fields of earth science and ocean technology, gathering the world's highest level of ocean technology strength. "Jian Zhimin said in his report" Deep Ocean Engineering and Technology Development "that there are currently more than 4000 drilling wells and more than 400000 meters of core extraction in various oceans around the world. It is reported that China joined Ocean Drilling in 1998 and designed and led four South China Sea ocean drilling voyages, establishing China's international scientific leadership in deep-sea research in the South China Sea and providing important theoretical support for the exploration and development of deep-sea oil and gas resources in the South China Sea. According to Jian Zhimin, Chinese scientists are currently building an underwater scientific observation network, constructing thousands of kilometers of underwater optoelectronic hybrid cables, inputting high-voltage electricity into the seabed, charging it through underwater optoelectronic nodes, and transmitting information back through a combination of wired and wireless methods. We liken this project to installing human eyes on the seabed Jian Zhimin said. In 2019, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme proposed the concept of a future floating city on the sea. In 2020, the annual report of the American Society of Civil Engineers mentioned two major trends for the future world: one is super cities, and the other is floating cities. Many countries have corresponding ideas and plans, and are gradually putting them into practice The project is located between Miami and the Bahamas and is constructed using high-performance concrete modules. It is 1500 meters long and 1000 meters wide, covering an area approximately half of Monaco's land area. It is expected to accommodate a population of approximately 15000 people. The "Maritime Busan" city demonstration model in South Korea, located in Busan, will have a total area of 62700 square meters. In addition, to cope with rising sea levels, Maldives' "floating city" has designed 5000 floating units that can accommodate 12000 people. Research on the construction of larger span deep-sea bridges. Bridges with water depths less than 60 meters are considered shallow sea bridges, while bridges with water depths greater than 60 meters are considered deep-sea bridges. It is reported that China has successfully constructed a number of cross sea bridge projects with a water depth of less than 60 meters and a span of less than 2000 meters both domestically and internationally. A number of technological achievements have been made in deepwater foundation, structural system, disaster prevention and reduction, longevity guarantee, construction technology, and health operation and maintenance. As a crucial project for achieving intercontinental and land island connectivity, the construction of deep-sea bridges is of great significance, but it also faces more stringent construction conditions. To break through larger bridge spans, higher requirements are needed for safe, long-lasting, healthy operation and maintenance Zhang Xigang believes that these will become technical challenges that deep-sea bridges will need to face in the future. In the report "Bridge Engineering - From Shallow Sea to Deep Sea", Zhang Xigang revealed that the relevant team has started researching new composite technologies suitable for cable-stayed bridges with a single span of 1500 meters and suspension bridges with a depth of about 3000 meters in the future. It is reported that the "Central Enterprise Marine Engineering Technology Innovation Alliance" is guided by the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, with 10 industry-leading marine engineering central enterprises as the core, and 24 universities and research institutes with advantages in marine disciplines such as Tsinghua University, as well as 12 large enterprises and private leading enterprises, to concentrate their advantageous forces.
