Representative and influential public art, in addition to possessing the basic characteristics of general art works, must also resonate with the times and empathize with people in the era. Symbols are concise, popular, highly communicative, and influential language. When international friends talk about China, they often mention iconic symbols such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Yangtze River, Yellow River, etc. In recent years, high-speed rail and new energy vehicles have also been frequently mentioned. Iconic national cultural symbols are of great significance in shaping national image and promoting cultural exchange. Cultural symbols are like a bridge, connecting the past and future, China and the world. The vast and profound Chinese civilization is a treasure trove of cultural innovation and creation. Currently, we need to examine artistic creation from a new perspective, recognizing the important role of public art in shaping national cultural symbols, as well as in constructing Chinese discourse and narrative systems, from the perspective of enhancing the influence of Chinese civilization dissemination. After the proposal of jointly building the "the Belt and Road", I thought about how to create public sculpture works with this theme. In my creation, I thought of the image of 'bridge'. Bridges in various forms are all over the world. Bridges are not only transportation facilities, but also cultural symbols, symbolizing connection, communication and exchange. The cultural image is bright and vivid, which is consistent with the connotation of the "the Belt and Road" initiative. Therefore, I combined the image of "bridge", took the famous Zhaozhou Bridge as the prototype, and created a large-scale public art work "Golden Bridge on the Silk Road" with about 20000 pieces of "amber gold bricks" integrating the "the Belt and Road" to jointly build the national flower. This work has become the landmark landscape of the main venue of the the Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum, the first Asian Civilization Dialogue Conference and other important home diplomatic activities. It depicts the harmonious scene of "a flower alone is not spring, and a hundred flowers bloom in spring" to the world in artistic language. It presents the beauty of China's "peace" culture poetically, and conveys the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit.
