On the morning of July 11th, Minister of Justice He Rong met with Hong Kong Secretary for Justice Lin Dingguo and his delegation in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the judicial and legal communities of mainland China and Hong Kong, and promoting the construction of the rule of law in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. He Rong emphasized that in March of this year, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region formulated the "Regulations on Safeguarding National Security" to further strengthen the legal barrier for safeguarding national security and inject strong impetus into the development of Hong Kong's governance and prosperity. Since last year, the Ministry of Justice has thoroughly implemented the decision-making arrangements of the Party Central Committee on promoting the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and steadily implemented cooperation agreements with the Hong Kong Department of Justice. Practical results have been achieved in the two-way training of legal talents, the protection of lawyers' practice in the Greater Bay Area, and international commercial arbitration and mediation exchanges and cooperation. The Ministry of Justice will continue to strengthen interaction and legal consultation with the Hong Kong Department of Justice, continuously improve open cooperation measures in legal services such as lawyers and arbitration, support the construction of a Greater Bay Area lawyer exchange platform, promote the establishment of an effective dispute resolution mechanism for arbitration, mediation, and litigation in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and provide high-quality legal services and legal guarantees for the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the stable and far-reaching implementation of "One Country, Two Systems". Lin Dingguo thanks the Ministry of Justice for its strong support to the work of the Hong Kong Department of Justice, and looks forward to further deepening practical cooperation between the two sides, working together to promote Hong Kong's better integration into the overall development of the country.
