Palestinian media reported on the 9th that a school in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis was hit by Israeli air strikes that day, resulting in at least 29 deaths, most of whom were women and children, and multiple others were injured. United Nations agencies and multiple countries condemned the Israeli airstrike on a school in Khan Younis on the 10th. On the 10th, Lazarini, the Director General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, stated on social media that schools in the Gaza Strip have transformed from a safe place to provide education and hope for children into an overcrowded shelter, which is often filled with death and pain. Lazarini stated that blatant disregard for international humanitarian law cannot become the norm. He called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Jordanian Foreign Minister Safadi stated during a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Bader Abdul Ati in Cairo that the airstrike on Khan Younis School was another war crime committed by Israel. On the 10th, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing serious concern over the Israeli air raid on the Khan Younis School. The statement stated that schools were originally intended as shelters for civilians displaced during conflicts, and it is "unacceptable" for schools to become targets of attacks. The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on the 10th stating that the air raid on the Khan Younis School, which resulted in the death of multiple civilians, is unacceptable, and civilians, especially children, must not be involved in the war. The statement also calls for the Israeli military to cease repeated attacks on schools and for a prompt investigation into this matter. (Lai Xin She)
