"Nowadays, going to the theater to watch plays is a very fashionable thing." On the 9th, Zeng Long, a young director from the Fujian Liyuan Opera Inheritance Center, walked into the Quanzhou campus of Overseas Chinese University and gave the first lecture of the "Art Education and Elegance Hall" on "The Things of Liyuan Opera". Together with students from both domestic and foreign universities, they explored the ancient charm and tasted the beauty of tradition. The Liyuan Opera, with a history of over 800 years, is one of the oldest surviving theatrical genres in China and is known as the "living fossil of Southern Opera in the Song and Yuan dynasties.". It originated in Quanzhou, Fujian, known as the "Minnan Opera House", and has seven major professions: Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo, Chou, Tie, and Wai. There are still over a hundred traditional operas surviving on stage to this day. On the 9th, the young director of Liyuan Opera, Zeng Long, walked into the Quanzhou campus of Overseas Chinese University to give a lecture on "The Things About Liyuan Opera". At the scene, Zeng Long recounted the history of Liyuan Opera and shared the newly edited plays "Chen Sanwu Niang - Parallel Time and Space" and "Da Mo - Cyberpunk" directed in recent years. He exclaimed that "not forgetting the original nor eating the old" is the lifeline for Liyuan Opera to be passed down to this day. In Zeng Long's eyes, he is a person with reverse thinking and a constant sense of crisis. Although innovation is a difficult task, his footsteps never stop, and his latest attempt is to integrate the elegant pear garden opera and the fashionable and trendy cyberpunk performance in "Da Mo - Cyberpunk". Zeng Long's witty words won applause from the students of Huada University, and he also answered the questions raised by his classmates one by one. When it comes to the experience of breaking through bottlenecks in creation, he bluntly stated that many problems that cannot be solved in the process of innovation often find answers in tradition, which requires creators to have a deeper understanding of tradition. On the 9th, the young director of Liyuan Opera, Zeng Long, walked into the Quanzhou campus of Overseas Chinese University to give a lecture on "The Things About Liyuan Opera". When directing the newly edited modern Liyuan drama "Heroic Tiger Gallbladder", there was a great battle between the two armies in the drama. However, there were not many martial artists or actors in the Liyuan drama, and there were not many who could perform somersaults in the entire troupe, which immediately became a major challenge. Finally, we cleverly utilized the traditional theatrical approach of running the circle. On the stage of drama, one can cross thousands of mountains and rivers in three or five steps, and one can perform thousands of troops and horses through a program, solving problems with ease Zeng Long gave an example. In the lecture, Zeng Long also conveyed the teachings of his predecessors in the Pear Garden Opera to Huada University: "Be good at accumulating, cherish opportunities, and bravely try." He encouraged students to pay attention to life, draw inspiration from daily life, be brave in practice, and embark on a wonderful life path of their own. "Teacher Zeng Long's performance in the Pear Garden Opera made me feel the urge to go to the theater to watch it." Li Siwen, an international student from Overseas Chinese University in Mali, told reporters that although his Chinese is not fluent enough, drama knows no borders, and language cannot prevent him from experiencing the beauty of pear garden drama. Portuguese overseas Chinese student Lin Yongfei said that through Zeng Long's explanation, he has gained a deeper understanding of Quanzhou and pear garden opera. In the future, he will share what he has seen and heard with his family and friends in Portugal, take them to experience traditional Chinese culture, and feel the charm of Quanzhou, the "World Heritage City". It is reported that the "Art Education Yatang" series of lectures are organized by the "Art Education Overseas Chinese Heart" counselor studio of Overseas Chinese University and the "Da Mei Li Yuan Art Education Overseas Chinese Heart" Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Overseas Chinese Youth Practice Team. As the third batch of key counselor studios under the construction of Overseas Chinese University, the "Aesthetic Education Overseas Chinese Heart" counselor studio aims to create the largest concentric circle of students both domestically and internationally through the use of high-quality aesthetic education and educational platforms, using Chinese excellent traditional culture as a bridge, and infiltrating students with aesthetic education.
