2024-07-10

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra (hereinafter referred to as "Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra") will hold the "Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra 2024 Tour" from July 20 to 27, 2024. Two concerts will be held at the Hungarian National Opera House and the Beijing National Grand Theatre to pay tribute to the friendship between the two countries with music. As a prelude to the tour, Guangqingjiao will hold the "2023/2024 Music Season Closing Ceremony Concert" at the Xinghai Concert Hall on July 19. The band, led by Guangqingjiao Music Director Jing Huan, will present a fusion of Chinese and Western elements, blending ancient and modern elements. At the concert on July 19th, under the guidance of music director Jing Huan, Guangqingjiao will collaborate with Professor Zhang Qiang from the Central Conservatory of Music and renowned contemporary pipa player, as well as world-class cellist and gold medalist Qin Liwei from the Naumburg International Cello Competition, to perform a work that combines ancient Chinese romanticism and contemporary Chinese spirit - the cello and pipa double concerto "Leisure Tour". The original intention of creating "Xiaoyao You" was to express traditional Chinese culture through musical language. The cello led the entire orchestra to describe this work, which is rich in Chinese cultural atmosphere. The high and sharp pipa and the deep and vast cello interweave and linger, relying on the rhythm of Western music style and the tones of Tang and Song ancient rhymes, laying out a scene of dialogue between Chinese and Western civilizations. Zhang Qiang once performed with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in the Golden Hall of Vienna in 2001. The tacit cooperation and excellent performance on stage left a lasting impression on him. In this tour, collaborating with the youthful and energetic Guangqingjiao also made him highly anticipated: "I hope that the collaborative performance with Guangqingjiao can gain widespread attention from domestic and foreign audiences." Qin Liwei once served as a cello solo in Guangqingjiao's first international tour in 2015, and together with sheng performer Jia Lei, they performed Zhao Lin's cello, sheng, and orchestra concerto "Du". In 2017, Qin Liwei and Guang Qingjiao performed Tan Dun's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" at the opening cultural performance of the Guangzhou Fortune Global Forum, which received high praise from both domestic and foreign guests. Looking back on our collaboration with Guangqingjiao, Qin Liwei shared, "The sincerity and love for music of the children at Guangqingjiao have deeply moved me. In terms of performance quality requirements, Guangqingjiao is a model for domestic youth bands. I am looking forward to working with Guangqingjiao again!" In addition to "Xiaoyao You", Guangqingjiao will also perform professional pieces performed by professional bands around the world, including Chinese composer Chen Qigang's "Moments of Peking Opera", Stravinsky's "Firebird" suite, and Hungarian composer Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody". It is reported that on July 23rd, Guangqingjiao will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary with music at the Hungarian National Opera House. On July 26th, Guangqingjiaohui will make its debut at the National Grand Theatre. (Lai Xin She)
