According to the website of the National Medical Products Administration on July 8th, in recent years, the Administration has continued to promote innovative development in the medical device industry. For innovative medical devices, on the basis of ensuring product safety, effectiveness, and controllable quality, according to the principle of no reduction in standards and no reduction in procedures, a dedicated person is responsible, the entire process is guided, and priority approval is given to accelerate product launch. As of now, 277 innovative medical devices have been approved for market launch, including 27 approved since 2024, involving multiple high-end medical devices such as bronchial navigation operation control systems, fundus imaging assisted diagnosis software for retinal lesions, extracorporeal ventricular assist devices, renal artery radiofrequency ablation devices, etc., covering multiple fields such as surgical robots, artificial intelligence medical devices, and cardiopulmonary support assistance systems. These innovative products have been launched, providing patients with more treatment options and effectively improving surgical safety and success rate, reducing treatment costs, and better meeting the needs of the people to use high-end medical devices. From the perspective of product types, the innovative medical devices approved in 2024 include 5 passive medical devices, 2 in vitro diagnostic reagents, and 20 active medical devices, covering 10 categories of medical devices. Among them, there are more active surgical devices and active implantable devices. 17 domestically produced medical devices, mainly distributed in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong; 10 imported medical devices. Next, the National Medical Products Administration will comply with the needs of technological progress and industrial development, research and introduce more specific support and encouragement measures for key areas, comprehensively promote the innovative and high-quality development of the medical device industry, and effectively maintain the high-level safety of medical devices.
