Promoting the deployment of artificial intelligence industry in multiple regions and promoting the integration and development with the real economy

2024-07-08

Recently, many regions have further promoted the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) industry. On July 6th, the Party Committee of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shanghai held a central group learning meeting, focusing on promoting Shanghai's state-owned assets and enterprises to seize new opportunities for the development of artificial intelligence and other topics. Guo Tao, Deputy Director of China E-commerce Expert Service Center and Senior Artificial Intelligence Expert, told Securities Daily that AI is like a catalyst that can promote economic growth, lead industrial upgrading, and create new economic vitality points. Under the guidance of national strategy, multiple regions are focusing on independent innovation and gradually building China's AI technology system and industrial innovation ecosystem, including intelligent chips, large models, and application technologies. In the future, the deep layout of the artificial intelligence industry in various regions will accelerate the integration and development of artificial intelligence and the real economy, and help the region achieve more brilliant results in development. According to Tianyancha data, as of July 7th, there are 40139 high-tech enterprises related to artificial intelligence in operation in various parts of China. According to the distribution of related enterprises in various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, Guangdong Province ranks first with 5922 AI related high-tech enterprises; Jiangsu Province and Beijing ranked second and third respectively, with 3949 and 3411 related enterprises. "In Guangdong, Jiangsu, Beijing and other regions, there are numerous AI companies and rapid industrial growth, which are supported by multiple factors." Chen Zhigang, an information and communication expert, said that these places have obvious advantages in talent, funding, and industrial chain. Their long-term accumulation of digital technology, digital facilities, and other technologies has played a positive role in the development of the artificial intelligence industry. How to achieve "last come, first served" in areas where the development of the AI industry is temporarily slow? Speaking of this, Chen Zhigang analyzed that it is recommended that the latecomer regions find their correct positioning in division of labor and cooperation, strengthen the construction of intelligent infrastructure, and accumulate strength in areas such as data open sharing, business environment, and talent cultivation. Currently, with the rapid iteration of AI technology and the rapid development of the industry, it has become a new track that various regions in China are eager to layout. Multiple interviewed experts stated that in order to vigorously develop new industries and models of artificial intelligence in various regions, it is necessary to tailor measures to local conditions, based on the existing industrial characteristics and advantages, guide and cultivate the integration of AI and the real economy, and optimize the industrial ecology. "'Finding the right positioning 'means that different regions need to comprehensively consider multiple factors such as policy support, market environment, industrial foundation, talent reserves, infrastructure, etc., to find the best angle for the integration of AI and local economic and social development." Chen Xiaohua, director of the Blockchain and Data Elements Professional Committee of China Mobile Communications Federation, said that one of the advantages of AI is that it can collide with agriculture, industry and service industries to create new application scenarios and vitality. For example, some places excel in cultivating culture and tourism, and the possibility of seeking breakthroughs in the development of artificial intelligence through "AI+tourism" and "AI+cultural and creative" is even higher. What should be the focus of future efforts for regions that have achieved phased results in building an AI industry highland? The direction of Beijing's landing may serve as a reference. According to the official website of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, on July 2nd, the commission held a deployment meeting for artificial intelligence general education courses in Beijing municipal universities. The meeting clearly stated that starting from September 2024, artificial intelligence general education courses will be offered to all public universities in Beijing. (Lai Xin She)
