2024-07-05
On July 4th, the reporter learned from the Forestry Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that in the past year, 48 new species have been discovered in Guangxi. Among them, 9 new species of terrestrial wildlife were discovered, and 39 new species of plants were discovered. The continuous discovery of new species has further enriched China's biodiversity resources and expanded new space for biodiversity research. For example, the discovery of Shishan tung tree provides a new path for the development of tung tree industry, cultivation of new tung tree varieties, and desertification control. The discovery of cherry blossoms in Quanzhou provides more research materials for the dwarfing or cultivation of new cherry blossom ornamental varieties, and also indicates that the plant resources in the region still need further exploration and research. The discovery of Du'an Boltgrass is an endemic species in karst areas of Guangxi, which has increased the number of endemic species of Boltgrass from 9 to 10, providing new data for the study of Guangxi's flora and geography. In recent years, new species such as the Daming Mountain Palm Toad, Wuming Palm Toad, and Daming Mountain Bamboo Leaf Frog have been discovered in the Daming Mountain National Nature Reserve in Guangxi, fully demonstrating that the Daming Mountain National Nature Reserve is an important gene bank for species and has significant importance in protecting species diversity, providing new species resources for biodiversity research in China.
