Rising towards the Sea and Traveling towards the New -- Looking at the Development of New Meteorology in Yingkou Port

2024-07-04

The blue sky and blue sea shimmer with ripples. The Yingkou Port container terminal on the banks of Liaodong Bay is bustling with activity. The giant gantry crane picks up containers one by one and smoothly moves them onto the cargo ship docked at the dock. On the yard, a large number of containers waiting to be shipped are neatly arranged and are about to be loaded onto the sea. Since the beginning of this year, the throughput of Yingkou Port's container terminal has achieved steady growth. "In the first five months, the throughput was 1.36 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%." According to Wang Fei, the relevant person in charge of the Container Terminal Branch of Liaogang Holdings (Yingkou) Co., Ltd., the container terminal currently has six 100000 ton berths and 20 shore loading and unloading bridges. The newly launched remote controlled automated yard has achieved the goal of saving manpower and reducing energy consumption, with an actual operational efficiency of up to 30 standard containers per hour. Yingkou Port, which was opened to the outside world in 1861, has a long history and obvious geographical advantages. It is an important export port for goods from the three northeastern provinces and the eastern part of Inner Mongolia. The above-mentioned regions are rich in natural resources, with a strong industrial foundation and strong demand for domestic and international sea transportation. To meet the rapidly growing regional freight demand, Yingkou Port has built 56 berths with a capacity of over 10000 tons, including one 300000 ton ore berth and one 300000 ton crude oil berth. After being integrated into Liaogang Group in 2019, the division of labor among the ports within the group became clearer, positioned as a hub port for domestic trade, and the advantages of Yingkou Port in domestic trade became more prominent. Weave a dense port route network and build an efficient and smooth maritime logistics channel. Wang Fei introduced that currently, the domestic container shipping routes at Yingkou Port have covered 30 major coastal ports in China, with a flight density of over 240 flights per month. The Shanghai and Guangzhou schedules can operate at least once a day, while the Ningbo, Taicang, and Yantai schedules can operate every two days. Smart and green are empowering the high-quality development of ports. "Through the intelligent terminal operation system, customers can instantly query relevant information such as ship and container dynamics 24 hours a day. Terminal staff can also grasp the operation dynamics of the yard in advance through customer reservation information, and coordinate ship and yard operations more scientifically and reasonably. Wang Fei said that Yingkou Port is also accelerating the construction of shore power piles to provide shore power to more ships with shore power usage conditions, replacing the fuel on board, thereby significantly reducing the pollution caused by fuel emissions.". According to statistics, in the first five months of this year, the shore power usage of Yingkou Port reached 430000 kilowatt hours, accounting for one sixth of the overall operating volume. It is expected that the shore power usage will reach 1 million kilowatt hours in 2024. Yingkou Port, located in the central part of the Liaodong Peninsula, is an important node for grain transportation and modern logistics in the Northeast region. In 2023, the total grain transportation volume of Yingkou Port reached 33.83 million tons, a significant increase from 29.65 million tons in 2022. "Yingkou Port currently has 8 grain loading and unloading berths, with a maximum throughput of over 100000 tons day and night." Wang Shujun, Deputy General Manager of the Grain Branch of Liaogang Holdings (Yingkou) Co., Ltd., said that the Grain Branch is mainly engaged in the loading, unloading, production, storage and storage of grain goods, with 62 silos and a storage capacity of 400000 tons; 25 transfer warehouses with a storage capacity of 600000 tons. What are the sources and destinations of domestic grain goods in Yingkou Port? The reporter learned that from the sources of domestic grain trade, Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces account for 99%, with over 90% of domestic grain flowing to southern and eastern China. "Yingkou Port will further facilitate the transportation of grain, serve the national strategic layout, and provide better service guarantees for national food security and stable industrial and supply chains." Wang Shujun said. Just recently, three berths in the Xianren Island port area of Yingkou Port passed the official acceptance inspection smoothly. After this acceptance, the number of berths open to the public at Yingkou Port has reached 66, and all completed berths at Yingkou Port have been fully opened. Rise towards the sea and move towards the new. Ports are an important support for economic development and a major channel for opening up to the outside world. The thriving Yingkou Port will continue to contribute to the opening up of the Northeast region to the outside world and promote new breakthroughs in the comprehensive revitalization of the Northeast.
