The reporter learned from the Ministry of Justice that the 2024 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Lawyer Practice Examination organized by the Ministry of Justice was recently held in Shenzhen and Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The pilot work of practicing Hong Kong and Macao lawyers in the mainland of the Greater Bay Area is an important measure to implement the central government's decision-making and deployment on the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and is of great significance in supporting Hong Kong and Macao lawyers to better integrate into the overall development of the country. Previously, the Ministry of Justice had successfully held three practice exams for lawyers in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, with more than 1500 Hong Kong and Macao lawyers registering to take the exam, of which more than 450 Hong Kong and Macao lawyers obtained practicing certificates for lawyers in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. In 2023, the mainland practice pilot period for lawyers in the Greater Bay Area of Hong Kong and Macau was extended for three years, and the examination registration conditions were adjusted appropriately, expanding the coverage of pilot policies and causing a warm response in the legal community of Hong Kong and Macau. This exam is the first time since the extension of the pilot program, and also the first time since the pilot program that all examination areas have been set up in the mainland. More than 340 lawyers from Hong Kong and Macau have signed up to take the exam. By holding exams, we will provide more opportunities and platforms for Hong Kong and Macao lawyers to develop in the mainland, support Hong Kong and Macao lawyers to play a professional role, and provide high-quality legal services for the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
