On June 27th, in the skill display area of the Jinling Scripture Engraving Office, staff were booking lines. Located at No. 35 Huaihai Road, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, Jinling Scripture Carving Office was founded by renowned scholar Yang Renshan in the late Qing Dynasty in 1866. It integrates the collection, carving, printing, and circulation of ancient scriptures, and fully preserves traditional techniques such as woodblock watermarks and thread bound letter covers. It has a history of more than 150 years. To this day, the Jinling Scripture Engraving Office still maintains the traditional manual book making process of "engraving, brushing, and binding". The Jinling carved scriptures are meticulously selected, rigorously proofread, with a clear layout and meticulous engraving, earning the industry the nickname "Jinling edition". The woodblock printing technique of the Jinling Scripture Engraving Office is a legacy of Chinese woodblock printing, which holds an important position in the history of world printing. It has always been passed down orally from master to apprentice. Since its establishment, the inheritors of woodblock printing techniques here have been passed down to the eighth generation. The printing technique of Jinling engraved scriptures was announced by the State Council as one of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage in 2006, and was also included in the list of human intangible cultural heritage in 2009. The ancient Chinese woodblock printing technique has been passed down from generation to generation at the Jinling Scripture Engraving Office, blooming at their fingertips for a century.
