As one of the first pilot units for nutrition and health guidance in Shanghai, Bawang Tea Ji has officially implemented this innovative measure in its nationwide stores after four months of pilot work. On June 28th, Ba Wang Cha Ji announced that it will officially promote the "Nutrition Selection" logo to its stores nationwide. Consumers from over 4860 stores can choose products that suit them through clear ABCD logos. At the same time, seven world-class athletes, including Liu Xiang, Wang Shun, Zheng Qinwen, Chen Chenchen, Jia Yifan, Liu Qingyi, and Wang Ruimiao, are gathered to form the Ba Wang Cha Ji Health Ambassador Group, advocating the ABCD logo for healthy tea drinking and witnessing the champion quality of Ba Wang Cha Ji. The "Nutrition Selection" label is developed by the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Beverages are comprehensively graded based on the content of non milk derived sugars, non sugar sweeteners, saturated fats, and trans fats in the beverage, ranging from A to D, with a decreasing degree of recommendation. Among them, beverages rated as Grade A must meet the requirements of non milk sugar ≤ 0.5g/100ml, saturated fat ≤ 0.75g/100ml, and trans fat ≤ 0.3g/100ml, and do not use non sugar sweeteners. Following official guidelines, nearly 70% of the products sold by Bawang Tea Ji in its Shanghai stores have received an AB rating. Introducing a concise and clear ABCD grading system for freshly made beverages allows consumers to quickly understand the sugar and fat content characteristics of the beverage at a glance. Even during special periods requiring body management, consumers can easily enjoy low burden healthy drinks. "Compared to the past when I used to look at long ingredient lists and ordering strategies, now I only need to look at ABCD to determine the sugar and fat content of drinks, which is time-saving, labor-saving, and much more convenient," said consumer Ms. Wang. With healthier, more transparent, and lower burden becoming the new health concept of Ba Wang Cha Ji Modern Oriental Tea, Ba Wang Cha Ji also hopes to recommend refreshing and low burden healthy tea to more consumers across the country. It is understood that currently, the ordering page of the Ba Wang Cha Ji mini program also indicates data such as GI value and calorie value. Different capacities, sweetness, and temperatures of the same beverage have different levels of "nutritional selection" labels. The health calculator function on the mini program can help consumers check the specific ingredient information of each drink, guiding them to choose a drink that is more suitable for them. Xu Yajun, Vice Dean of the School of Public Health at Peking University, introduced in a media interview that more than 40 countries around the world have implemented food packaging front labeling (FOP) similar to the "Nutrition Selection" grading label. Chile and Singapore are representative countries in the world that have implemented mandatory FOP labeling for high sugar beverages. With the implementation of the "Nutrition Selection" logo in Bawang Tea Ji's stores nationwide, consumers across China have also experienced the transparent and healthy beverage selection standards brought by China's first batch of "Nutrition Selection" logos up close.
