2024-06-27

The National Health Commission held a press conference on the 26th to introduce the strengthening of weight management and the promotion of public health. At the meeting, Guo Yanhong, Director of the Medical Emergency Department of the National Health Commission, stated that the "Weight Management Year" activity will focus on "covering the entire life cycle of the entire population and improving the level of precise weight management", proposing strategies and measures for managing five key groups of people, including students, infants and preschool children. One is student weight management, with a focus on cultivating healthy habits among children and adolescents to dynamically measure height, weight, and waist circumference, helping overweight and obese students achieve "one reduction, two increases, one adjustment, and two measurements". "One reduction" means reducing food intake, and "two increases" means increasing physical activity and enhancing weight loss confidence. "One adjustment and two measurements" refers to adjusting dietary structure, measuring weight, and measuring waist circumference. The second is weight management for infants, young children, and preschool children. The key is to strengthen the consultation and guidance services for scientific parenting, strengthen comprehensive monitoring of physical growth, nutrition and feeding guidance, as well as physical activity and exercise guidance, promote eating and exercise balance, and prevent and reduce overweight and obesity in children. The third is the health management of the professional population, namely young adults and labor force, with a focus on guiding individuals to strengthen weight monitoring and regular physical examinations, cultivate a healthy lifestyle, enrich sports and fitness activities, and improve health literacy and physical fitness. In addition, government agencies, enterprises, and institutions should also strengthen cafeteria management, provide healthy meals, and actively care for and care for the health of employees. The fourth is weight management for pregnant and postpartum women, with a focus on providing nutrition and health consultation, guidance, and intervention services for women during the perinatal period, promoting the maintenance of appropriate weight before pregnancy, reasonable weight gain during pregnancy, managing nutrition related complications and complications during pregnancy and childbirth, preventing adverse pregnancy outcomes such as low birth weight infants, macrosomia, and premature infants. At the same time, it is also necessary to manage postpartum weight and reduce weight retention after childbirth. The fifth is weight management for the elderly, with a focus on guiding them to choose appropriate meals, adhere to appropriate exercise, maintain appropriate weight, dynamically monitor their weight, waist circumference, and basic motor function indicators, and carry out comprehensive intervention guidance for weight management. While preventing obesity, elderly people also need to prevent muscle loss, commonly known as oligomyosis, to slow down the decline of bodily functions and reduce the risk of falls and fractures.
