On the occasion of the joint hosting of the "China Belarus High level University President Forum" by Peking University and the National University of Belarus, on the morning of June 25th, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Peking University Party Secretary Hao Ping and a delegation of Chinese universities at the Presidential Palace. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus, Xie Xiaoyong, representatives from more than ten Chinese universities, including Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Jilin University, Southeast University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat sen University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Dalian University of Technology, as well as representatives from nine Belarusian universities, including Andrei Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, and Andrei Carroll, President of the Belarusian National University, attended the meeting. Lukashenko welcomes the arrival of representatives from Peking University and Chinese universities, and supports the "China Belarus Basic Science Research Initiative" led by Peking University and Peking University, which has received positive responses from 41 universities in China and Belarus. At the same time, Lukashenko stated that the "China Belarus High Level University President Forum" is a continuation of the active dialogue between higher education institutions of the two countries, and hopes to take June 25th and 26th, the "Unity and Friendship Day" between Peking University and Peking University, as an opportunity to further promote exchanges and exchanges between the youth of the two countries. Lukashenko expressed gratitude to Peking University for its strong support of the joint undergraduate program in biotechnology, praised the program as a model for higher education exchanges between the two countries, and looked forward to more joint training programs launched by Chinese and Belarusian universities in the future. Hao Ping expressed that it is a great honor to visit Belarus with a delegation of Chinese universities and receive a warm meeting from the President. Last December, President Lukashenko made a working visit to Peking University and raised expectations for friendly exchanges in science, education, and culture between China and Belarus. He hoped that the youth of the two countries could strengthen exchanges and exchanges, and that the universities of the two countries could strengthen basic scientific cooperation. The visit of representatives from Peking University and various Chinese universities this time is precisely the implementation of the cooperation suggestions proposed last year. In September 2022, the heads of state of China and Belarus announced the upgrade of their relationship to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership; In March 2023, the two countries issued a joint statement on further developing the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries in the new era. Both sides are committed to deepening comprehensive cooperation within the framework of jointly building the "the Belt and Road". With the joint support of the education ministries of both countries, Peking University and Peking University took the lead in holding the "Forum for High level University Presidents of China and Belarus" on June 26. Belarusian Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets, Chinese Deputy Minister of Education Chen Jie, and representatives from more than 40 universities and research institutions gathered in Minsk to build a bridge of friendly exchanges between China and Belarus. As an important achievement of the "China Belarus High level University Presidents Forum", participating universities launched the "China Belarus Basic Science Cooperation" initiative at the opening ceremony of the forum and will soon initiate the establishment of the China Belarus Basic Science Joint Research Center to promote practical cooperation between the two sides in the field of education and technology.
