The original ethnic opera "March of the Volunteers", jointly produced by Shanghai Opera House and Shanghai Xuhui District Cultural and Tourism Bureau, will appear at the National Grand Theatre from July 5th to 6th. At a media conference held on June 25th, the creative team introduced that the drama is set against the backdrop of the 1930s Shanghai International Games. In the musical narrative structure of the opera, it artistically reproduces the creative process of the movie "Children of the Wind and Clouds" and its theme song "March of the Volunteers", creating a group of left-wing literary and artistic workers represented by progressive youth such as Tian Han, Nie Er, and Xia Yan, inspiring the audience's patriotism and national pride. The picture shows an opera excerpt performance at a media conference. Adhering to the creative principle of "no exaggeration in major matters and no restraint in minor matters", this drama strives to highlight the ideological connotation and contemporary significance, while shaping unique and vivid characters and impactful moving events. Screenwriter You Weizhi said that the national opera "March of the Volunteers" will use a wide-angle, historical lens, and multi-dimensional artistic expression to reproduce the birth process of this eternal melody on stage. The drama began its tour at the beginning of the year, not only in professional theaters, but also covering schools and communities, and going to various parts of the country.
