The first China South Korea Deputy Ministerial level Diplomatic Security 2+2 Dialogue was held in Seoul on the 18th, during which both sides exchanged candid and in-depth views on China South Korea relations and international and regional issues of common concern. On the day of the event, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong, Deputy Director of the International Military Cooperation Office of the Central Military Commission Zhang Baoqun, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea Jin Yaojun, and International Policy Officer of the Ministry of National Defense Li Chengfan jointly hosted the event. Both sides reiterated their importance and development of good neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and South Korea, agreed to actively engage in dialogue and exchanges at all levels and in various fields, strengthen communication through high-level strategic dialogues of the foreign ministry, 2+2 dialogues on diplomatic security, and 1.5 track dialogues, enhance political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation, and promote the healthy and stable development of China South Korea strategic partnership. Both sides agree to strengthen local and youth exchanges and continuously improve the friendly relationship between the two countries. The Chinese side has expressed a solemn stance on issues related to China's core interests and major concerns, such as Taiwan, and demands that the South Korean side handle them properly. The South Korean side's position of respecting the One China principle has not changed. China points out that it advocates a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security concept, practices true multilateralism, respects the legitimate security concerns of all countries, promotes global security cooperation through dialogue and consultation, and opposes hegemonism, unilateralism, and power politics. Both China and South Korea are beneficiaries of economic globalization and should work together to maintain the stability and smoothness of the global supply chain, resist the politicization and security of economic issues, and oppose various forms of trade protectionism and "building walls and barriers". Both sides elaborate on their positions and views on the Korean Peninsula issue. The Chinese side emphasizes that maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula is in the common interests of all parties, including China and South Korea. The context and crux of the development of the situation on the peninsula are clear. The urgent task is to cool down the situation, avoid escalating confrontation, and adhere to the general direction of political resolution. The Chinese side has always decided its position based on the right and wrong of the matter itself, and will continue to play a constructive role in the affairs of the peninsula in its own way. The South Korean side mentioned the exchange and cooperation between North Korea and Russia. The Chinese side stated that as a friendly neighbor, North Korea and Russia have a normal need for exchanges, cooperation, and development of relations. The relevant high-level exchanges are a bilateral arrangement between two sovereign countries. The first Deputy Ministerial level Diplomatic Security 2+2 Dialogue between China and South Korea is an arrangement that has already been agreed upon based on the development needs of bilateral relations, and has no special relevance to exchanges with other countries.
