On June 17th, Wang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and State Councilor, conducted research on food security work in Henan, visiting and comforting frontline workers at the grassroots level. Wang Xiaohong came to Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences to conduct research on seed industry innovation and ensuring food security. He had in-depth exchanges with breeding experts and researchers, and watched the exhibition board of Henan public security organs cracking down on illegal crimes that endanger food security and serving agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. He also inquired about the specific situation from relevant departments of the Provincial Public Security Department. Wang Xiaohong pointed out that food security is a top priority concerning the national economy and people's livelihood, and an important foundation of national security. At any time, we must not be complacent. We must focus on the key points, focus on the links, and guard the red line, comprehensively consolidate the foundation of food security, and ensure that the Chinese people's livelihood is firmly in our hands. Henan is an important agricultural and grain province in China, shouldering the responsibility of stabilizing national food security. The public security organs should improve mechanisms for information sharing, joint law enforcement, and execution coordination with relevant departments, organize and carry out special actions such as "Kunlun", strictly crack down on illegal crimes such as the production and sale of fake and inferior agricultural materials and the destruction of arable land resources in accordance with the law, strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in the seed industry, jointly strengthen industry supervision, source governance, and key area rectification, effectively protect arable land and ensure agricultural production. Wang Xiaohong emphasized that recent sustained high temperatures and droughts in Henan and other areas have had a negative impact on food security. Under the leadership of the local party committee, the public security organs should work together with relevant departments, think carefully about possible situations, and make every effort to do a good job in drought and flood prevention, emergency response, and other work, in order to maximize disaster prevention and reduction.
