At the 2024 China Langfang International Economic and Trade Fair, which opened on the 16th, the China Commercial and Logistics Development Report (2023) was released. The report showed that the total amount of commercial and logistics in China reached 126.1 trillion yuan in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The report was jointly written by the Department of Circulation Industry Development of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Logistics Information Center. The report points out that the current development of commercial logistics in China presents six major characteristics. Firstly, wholesale logistics is gradually expanding towards supply chain services; Secondly, the retail logistics industry is accelerating its refined transformation; Thirdly, the shortcomings of cold chain logistics facilities are being accelerated and supplemented. The total volume of cold storage is about 228 million cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%, and the number of refrigerated trucks is about 432000, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%; The fourth is the rapid development of customized logistics services for catering and accommodation. The annual circulation scale of food ingredients in the catering industry reached 6.1 trillion yuan, and the net vegetable market size exceeded 300 billion yuan. The logistics demand for the accommodation industry has recovered to its high level in 2019; The fifth is to maintain resilient growth in import and export logistics, with export logistics volume increasing by 6.7% year-on-year and import logistics volume increasing by 13.0% year-on-year. The annual port cargo throughput was 17 billion tons, an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous year; The sixth is to further improve the level of green standardization, with the total number of standard pallets in society exceeding 630 million pieces and a pallet standardization rate exceeding 36%. The report provides an outlook on the development trend of commercial logistics in 2024. Ren Feng, Deputy Director of the Development Department of the Circulation Industry of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that with the coordinated efforts of various macro policy measures, consumer demand continues to recover, and commercial logistics has shifted from a recovery oriented growth to a moderate growth.
