13 categories of national medical centers have been established, 125 national regional medical centers and 114 provincial-level regional medical centers have been constructed, and pilot projects for the construction of close city medical groups have been carried out in 81 cities. Recently, the National Health Commission announced the results of the construction of national regional medical centers, continuously promoting the expansion and sinking of high-quality medical resources, and improving the capacity of rural and grassroots medical services. There are differences in the level of economic and social development among different regions in China, and the distribution of medical resources is uneven between regions. Building a national regional medical center can address the need for cross regional medical treatment for serious and serious illnesses, thereby reducing the burden of medical treatment on the public, allowing them to enjoy high-quality medical resources at their doorstep, and enhancing their sense of medical satisfaction. Since the implementation of the project, more than 1400 diagnostic and treatment technologies have been transferred to the input provinces, filling more than 300 provincial medical technology gaps, and the number of cross provincial medical visits in relevant provinces has significantly decreased. This has to some extent promoted a more balanced and reasonable distribution of medical resources. The western region is still a region with weak medical resources in China, incomplete medical infrastructure, insufficient high-end medical talents, weak specialized abilities, and insufficient diagnostic and treatment capabilities for critical and rare diseases. Some seriously ill patients need to seek medical treatment in major hospitals in the central and eastern regions, which increases the burden of seeking medical treatment. On a provincial basis, based on the population distribution and local characteristic disease types within the province, a number of national regional medical centers will be constructed to minimize the cross regional medical treatment of patients with serious illnesses. For example, in the past three years, Peking University Cancer Hospital Yunnan Hospital has been approved for the construction project of the National Cancer Regional Medical Center. Peking University Cancer Hospital has achieved 14 translational technologies and new projects, effectively improving the diagnosis and treatment level of difficult diseases in Yunnan Province. Many cancer patients can receive good treatment even without leaving the province. Building a national regional medical center is not about large hospitals building their own branches in other regions, nor is it about disorderly expansion, but about helping local hospitals improve their medical capabilities. On the one hand, hardware should be strengthened, and output hospitals should help input hospitals strengthen their specialized capacity building, focusing on specialties with a concentration of patients with major diseases such as tumors, nerves, cardiovascular diseases, pediatrics, respiratory diseases, orthopedics, and infectious diseases. Hardware facilities should be equipped, and department management systems should be improved. On the other hand, software should be strong, and output hospitals should pay attention to helping cultivate medical talents for input hospitals. By providing on-site guidance, guidance, training, and encouraging medical personnel to pursue further education, we aim to achieve the replication and translation of medical technology, and build a high-level and never withdrawing medical team. For example, after Henan Maternal and Child Health Hospital was approved to build a national obstetrics and gynecology regional medical center project, Fudan University Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has mastered dozens of advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies through expert guidance and other means. High quality medical resources can be exported, but they must also be accepted. Hospitals should abandon the idea of "waiting and relying on demand", take proactive actions, improve salary distribution, hospital management, talent training and other systems, and quickly meet the national standards for setting up regional medical centers. Local governments should increase guidance and support, implement funding, land, and planning support, and reduce relevant taxes and fees to assist in the discipline construction and talent cultivation of national regional medical centers. For example, in order to support the construction of the National Regional Medical Center Fudan University Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen Hospital, Xiamen, Fujian has designated a 6.22 hectare plot of land as the hospital site in one of the highest priced areas in the city, ensuring the normal operation of the hospital for the first five years. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposes to promote the expansion of high-quality medical resources and regional balanced layout. Promoting the construction of national regional medical centers is an important measure to improve the layout of medical resources and promote the sinking of high-quality medical resources. It is an important support for building a healthy China and reflects the development concept of putting the people at the center. Focusing on areas with weak medical resources, building a number of high-level national and regional medical centers can benefit more people with high-quality medical resources and better safeguard people's life safety and physical health.
