Recently, China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Automotive Research") completed and put into use the Global Automotive Information and Communication Evaluation Technology Innovation Base (Phase I) invested in Chongqing. The total investment of this project is nearly 350 million yuan, with over 20 globally advanced laboratories and the establishment of a new energy intelligent connected vehicle full chain technology service platform, filling the gap in the field of intelligent connected vehicle testing. In the 16 meter high space with an area of more than 400 square meters, densely covered with foam carbon pyramids, on the middle turntable, a car is slowly rotating for detection. This is the largest vehicle antenna OTA (Over the Air Download Technology) laboratory in China. "With the promotion of intelligent connected vehicle applications, various intelligent terminals are integrated into cars, and there are also more and more in car antennas for different applications." Chinese automotive communication expert Zhou Liling introduced that in order to evaluate the performance of these antennas and vehicle communication OTA, personnel need to conduct tests in a dark room. This vehicle antenna OTA laboratory is the only one in the world capable of testing large bus vehicles, capable of measuring vehicles with a self weight of no more than 18 tons within 13 meters. This laboratory can meet the performance testing requirements of vehicle cellular communication, positioning, short-range communication, and C-V2X antennas, covering all current car antenna frequencies, with testing efficiency and accuracy ranking among the top in the world. In the vehicle lighting environment laboratory, it is possible to accurately simulate the natural broad-spectrum of sunlight and ensure that the illumination in any corner is uniform and consistent, thereby quantitatively detecting imaging equipment such as 360 degree panoramic view and reverse imaging of cars. In addition, the cockpit interaction laboratory in the base is the first comprehensive laboratory in China that integrates cockpit user experience evaluation and human factors research. According to Wei Chang, an expert in intelligent cockpit at China Automotive Research Institute, the laboratory can highly reproduce complex traffic conditions, simulate real driving scenarios for drivers and passengers, analyze the behavior and physiological data of cabin members, and achieve objective and quantitative evaluation of cabin experience, providing one-stop services for the development and evaluation of intelligent cockpit experience. It is worth mentioning that the world's first vehicle level wireless network simulation laboratory within the base can simulate different road conditions and operator signals, and achieve vehicle level wireless network technology testing. This laboratory can simulate network signals from over 70 countries and 200 operators worldwide, helping car companies complete overseas preliminary testing at their doorstep, significantly reducing testing cycles and lowering testing costs.
