This year is the fifth year of 5G commercialization. Over the past 5 years, all prefecture level and county level urban areas in China have achieved network coverage; From base station equipment to communication chips and then to mobile terminals, the overall strength of the industrial chain continues to strengthen; In industrial sites, 5G machine vision inspection improves quality inspection efficiency by 60%... According to calculations from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, in the past five years, 5G has directly driven a total economic output of about 5.6 trillion yuan and indirectly driven a total output of about 14 trillion yuan, effectively promoting high-quality economic and social development. Currently, mobile communication represented by 5G has become one of the most innovative, widely penetrated, and significantly driven technological fields. Next, we will work with all parties in the industry to continuously deepen network coverage, strengthen industrial foundation, accelerate the expansion of integrated applications, and actively promote the modernization of the information and communication industry Zhao Zhiguo, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said. "China's 5G network infrastructure has achieved global leadership," Zhao Zhiguo said. As of the end of April 2024, China has built a total of 3.748 million 5G base stations, with over 26 5G base stations per 10000 people. 5G networks have continued to move from "county to county" to "village to village". In addition, China is the first country in the world to release 5G mid band spectrum planning, achieve independent 5G network deployment, and launch the world's first 5G cross network roaming and commercial promotion. The deployment of 5G networks adheres to the principle of co construction and sharing. China Telecom has partnered with China Unicom to build the largest and fastest 5G SA (independent networking) co construction and sharing boutique network. As of now, continuous 5G coverage has been achieved in townships and above regions across the country, and effective coverage has been achieved in administrative villages. Zhao Jingbao, Deputy General Manager of China Tower, introduced that currently, the 5G sharing ratio has reached 95%, and the sharing rate of newly built base stations has significantly increased to 85%, which is equivalent to a cumulative reduction of 1.12 million tower stations, saving over 200 billion yuan in investment and 60000 acres of land. In recent years, China Tower has collaborated with customers to jointly carry out four special actions: "reducing 5G tower usage costs, saving electricity costs, saving site rental fees, improving service quality, and saving maintenance costs." This has saved customers over 6 billion yuan in operating costs; At the same time, by continuously strengthening professional operations, the maintenance fees for single tenants in telecommunications enterprises have decreased by more than 20%. Through 5 years of 5G scale construction and application innovation, we have found that society needs faster, more stable, and more functional mobile communication networks, which is also the driving force behind the evolution of 5G-A. 5G-A not only achieves a tenfold increase in bandwidth, latency, and other capabilities, but also supports sub meter level perception and centimeter level positioning, introducing new capabilities Cao Jibin, Senior Vice President and President of Huawei in China, said. Zhao Zhiguo stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will fully leverage its policy guidance role to promote the systematic development of new information infrastructure such as mobile communication, fiber optic broadband, and computing power; Consolidate the foundation and continuously improve network support capabilities. At the same time, we will deepen the construction of "dual gigabit" networks and orderly promote the upgrading and evolution of existing 5G networks to 5G-A according to scene requirements. Deepen the implementation of the "signal upgrading" special action, and promote the deep coverage of cultural tourism, medical institutions, higher education institutions, urban subways and other places in the network. Key core technologies continue to break through the 5G standard, accounting for over 42% of the world's required patent declarations. The commercial deployment of 5G lightweight and customized base stations has been achieved, and a number of new terminals such as 5G industrial gateways and inspection robots have been successfully developed and applied... In the past five years, key core technologies in the 5G field have continuously broken through. "China has led the transformation of 5G architecture and system innovation, forming a group of globally unified 5G international standards." Hu Jianbo, Vice President of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, introduced that there are 14000 5G authorized invention patents, over 10000 PCT international patents, and over 30% of the leading projects and standard proposals in the 5G-A international standard. In the view of Wen Ku, the Chairman of the China Communications Standardization Association, the continuous efforts of the 5G-A international standard will expand the 5G ecosystem in multiple dimensions and improve the performance of 5G networks. Specifically, by utilizing key technologies such as uplink super MIMO (multiple in multiple out), duplex evolution, and flexible uplink spectrum access, 5G uplink capacity can be improved tenfold. The integration of communication and perception is a concern in standard formulation, and its application will provide perception capabilities for scenarios such as transportation, low altitude, and daily life. At the same time, with the assistance of perception in communication network management, smart networks will be built. As an intermediate stage of 5G's evolution to 6G, 5G-A has set new goals and capabilities for the development of 5G. Xu Fei, Secretary General of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, summarized the application of 5G-A technology into three categories: to unleash broadband capabilities and improve efficiency through efficient 10G and integration of heaven and earth; Realize refined design for vertical industries with billions of IoT and deterministic capabilities; Explore new technological fields through synesthesia fusion and intelligent networks. Li Hongwu, president of China Unicom Research Institute, said that 5G-A is not a single technical feature, but a technology set containing new capabilities, new scenarios, new spectrum and other technical features, covering consumer Internet, industrial Internet, mobile Internet of Things, synaesthesia and other business scenarios. China Unicom actively conducts technological research and industrial promotion, promoting the commercialization of 5G-A technology from standard to commercial use. "We will persist in innovation and continuously strengthen core technology research and development." Zhao Zhiguo stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will closely monitor global technological evolution and industrial development trends, promote the integration and innovation of 5G with various technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, and enhance the ability of digital technology to empower the transformation of the real economy. Promote the evolution, product development, and commercial deployment of technologies such as 5G lightweight (Redcap) and 5G-A, continue to carry out testing and verification of new technologies such as communication perception integration, wireless endogenous AI, and mobile phone direct satellite connection, accelerate the development and maturity of related industries, and help build strategic emerging industries such as low altitude economy. The integration of data and reality has highlighted its effectiveness. Currently, 5G has covered 74 out of 97 major categories of the national economy, with an industry penetration rate of over 76%. The user base in the 5G industry has exceeded 30000. Among them, there are over a thousand households in smart cities, healthcare, and education, and over 500 in the power and mining industries. The proportion of 5G application in 25 major coastal ports nationwide reaches 92%, and the proportion of 5G application in the top 20 coal and steel enterprises is 95% and 85%, respectively. "We have experienced the production experience of coal mine workers leaving the mine with 'only teeth are white', and we hope to change the coal mine production environment through information technology such as 5G." Sun Xiaodong, Deputy General Manager of China Mobile Henan Pingdingshan Branch, introduced that China Mobile has established a project team in collaboration with Pingmei Shenma Group, adopting base station cascading and distributed multi antenna coverage technology to achieve high uplink capacity and speed, solve signal blind spots and equipment interference problems. At the same time, utilizing super uplink technology and network slicing application mode, it provides speed guarantee for data transmission in intelligent mines and solves channel congestion problems, ensuring the reliability and availability of 5G networks in harsh environments. It is reported that the project helps the mining area achieve remote operation and automation control of equipment, and the average annual production of high-risk workers has increased by about 70%. In addition, China Mobile has developed the world's first 5G intelligent coal gangue sorting equipment system, which integrates machine vision capabilities to achieve a separation accuracy of 97% for lump coal and gangue, in response to the pain points of high raw coal gangue content and difficulty in combustion. On the crisscrossing railway tracks in the Urumqi International Land Port area, groups of containers are loaded and shipped in an orderly manner without any manual operation. In 2023, China Unicom's "China Europe Train Assembly Center -5G+AIoT Smart Land Port Project" landed in Xinjiang. Nowadays, relying on 5G network with ultra-low latency and high reliability, Urumqi International Land Port Area implements autonomous driving of unmanned container trucks, enabling trucks to complete operations according to established driving paths and intelligently perceive road conditions. Zhao Zhiguo stated that 5G has achieved scale replication in key industries such as mining, power, and healthcare. The application of 5G in the industrial sector is gradually deepening from peripheral links to core links such as research and development, design, and production manufacturing. A number of high-value application scenarios and solutions have been explored, and the effectiveness of digital and practical integration applications is highlighted. Industry is the foundation of the real economy, and how 5G-A can empower the real economy faster, better, and more stably is the theme that the industry is actively exploring and practicing. The integration of digital and network technologies with industrial scenarios continues to deepen, but there is still a need to address the contradiction between fragmented demands and large-scale services Zhang Wanchun, Senior Vice President of ZTE, told reporters that ZTE has explored the industry's first fully 5G-A flexible production line at its Binjiang factory, and the industrial model has shown initial results, achieving a 30% reduction in fault repair cycles.
