The level of consumer rights protection and social governance continues to improve
2024-06-11
The annual report on the protection of consumer rights in China (2023) released by the China Consumers Association on the 27th shows that significant achievements have been made in legislation, administration, judiciary, and social aspects of consumer rights protection in China in 2023, and the level of social governance in consumer rights protection continues to improve. In 2023, the National Consumer Association received a total of 1.3285 million consumer complaints, resolved 1.1274 million cases, and achieved a complaint resolution rate of 84.86%, recovering 1.37 billion yuan in economic losses for consumers. The report shows that in 2023, new formats and models such as platform economy continue to develop, and digital consumption, green consumption, health consumption, and entertainment consumption have become consumption hotspots. At present, the development of new types of consumption is in the ascendant, with a large space for growth and the expansion of new consumption growth points. The key work is to stimulate the vitality of new types of consumption, actively cultivate consumption fields such as smart homes, entertainment and tourism, and domestic "trendy goods". Therefore, on the one hand, the service quality of new consumption should be improved to ensure consumption safety; On the other hand, we need to increase investment in public infrastructure and policy support for new consumption, ensuring that consumers enjoy convenient and efficient consumption. In addition, there are still some prominent problems in the current consumer rights protection work in China: the legislation related to consumer credit in the financial sector is relatively lagging behind; The supply of consumer rights protection systems in new consumption fields such as digital consumption is still insufficient; The production and operation models of new types of food such as pre made vegetables need to be strengthened and standardized; The problems of "cosmetic disfigurement" caused by black institutions and black doctors urgently require sound and normalized supervision; Under the digital background, the means of electronic fraud are constantly being renovated; The relevant laws, regulations, and standard specifications for live streaming e-commerce and new online marketing need to be improved.
