Sea anemone completed offshore installation

2024-06-11

CNOOC announced on the 10th that with the last anchor chain locked and fixed, Asia's first cylindrical floating production, storage and unloading device "Haikui No. 1" has been installed offshore, and has been accurately positioned in Liuhua Oilfield in the the Pearl River River Mouth Basin, marking a new breakthrough in the installation capacity of mooring systems for floating facilities in China's deepwater oil and gas fields, laying the foundation for the first deepwater oilfield secondary development project to be put into production within the year. The sea area where the Sea Anemone One is located is about 240 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen, with a depth of over 320 meters. The wind direction is variable and internal waves and currents occur frequently. "Haikui No.1" is a high-end marine equipment that integrates crude oil production, storage, and export functions. It consists of nearly 600000 components, with a total weight of 37000 tons and a height of nearly 30 floors. The main deck area is equivalent to 13 standard basketball courts, with a maximum oil storage capacity of 60000 tons. It can process about 5600 tons of crude oil per day. Wang Huoping, Deputy General Manager of the Liuhua Oilfield Development Project at China National Offshore Oil Corporation Shenzhen Branch, said that the "Haikui-1" is the first offshore reconnection of cylindrical marine equipment in China. Due to the high center of gravity and large wind surface of the cylindrical structure, it is prone to rotation, making offshore installation extremely difficult. The "Sea Anemone One" adopts a new cylindrical structure design, with a design life of 30 years, and can operate continuously at sea for 15 years without returning to dock. Compared to conventional ship types, cylindrical structures have advantages such as less steel consumption, high oil storage efficiency, and strong resistance to harsh sea conditions, which can effectively improve economic applicability and reduce oilfield development and operation costs. To ensure the stable rooting of "Sea Anemone One" in the turbulent sea, the project installed 12 sets of deep-water suction anchors independently designed and constructed by China in advance on the seabed, and connected them through 12 mooring anchor legs composed of "anchor chains+reclaimed water buoys+polyester cables". A single anchor leg is 2570 meters long, with a breaking load of 2300 tons, equivalent to the weight of 1500 family cars. This mooring system is like a "mooring stake" installed on the seabed, firmly fixing "Sea Anemone One" to the sea surface. Wang Huoping said that at a distance of 2.5 kilometers from "Sea Anemone 1", the first deep-water jacket platform in Asia, "Sea Base 2", has also completed all installation operations recently, breaking two Asian records for the height and weight of offshore crude oil production platforms. The total height of Haiji No.2 is 428 meters, with a total weight of over 50000 tons. It has 24 production wells and is equipped with over 300 sets of equipment, including crude oil process and export systems, production water treatment systems, and power supply systems. It can achieve remote underwater wellhead control, intelligent oil and gas extraction, and typhoon production mode. (Lai Xin She)
