On June 3rd, under the guidance of the Guangzhou Municipal Archives Bureau and the Guangzhou Municipal Archives, the "Liwan Fragrance" - "Dream Building Modernization Struggle for Lantai People" boutique archives exhibition jointly organized by the Liwan District Archives Bureau, the Liwan District National Archives, and the Guangzhou Cultural Park opened at the Cultural Center of the Guangzhou Cultural Park. The exhibition lasted until June 11th. On the occasion of the 17th International Archives Day, Liwan District showcased the fine Chinese painting scroll "Xiguan Fenghua" and "Shuixiu Huaxiang" from the National Archives of Liwan District, along with archival materials, as well as recent photography works from the archives, under the theme of "Building Dreams, Modernizing, Struggling for Lantai People". In the exhibition, the two long scrolls "Xiguan Fenghua" and "Shuixiu Huaxiang" are particularly eye-catching, each stretching 20 meters long, like a river of history slowly unfolding, showcasing the local customs and natural beauty of Liwan District to the fullest. The reporter learned that the long scroll of traditional Chinese painting "Xiguan Fenghua" was completed in 2005. It was initiated by the Liwan District Archives Bureau, Cultural Bureau, CPPCC Painting and Calligraphy Institute and other units during the adjustment of the Liwan district. The "Xiguan Fenghua" project invited renowned painter Chen Yongqiang as an art consultant, and gathered artists such as Shen Wenjiang from Guangzhou Academy of Painting, Zhu Yongcheng from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and Li Xinxin. The Xiguan Fenghua was inscribed by Mr. Wu Nansheng, former Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, while Mr. Liang Yanran wrote the Xiguan Fu and Mr. Chen Yongqiang wrote it. After months of careful creation, the work takes the the Pearl River as the link, connecting the Changdi Bell Tower in Liwan District, to Shamian, Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, Chenjiaci, Xiguan Old Town, Liwan Lake and other landmark attractions, showing the unique natural features and profound historical and cultural heritage of Liwan. The long volume of "Water Show and Flower Scent" was completed in July 2010 as the sisters of "Xiguan Style". "Water Show and Flower Scent" was created by the painters of Xiguan Painting Academy. It was inscribed by Mr. Chen Jinzhang, a famous painter of Lingnan School of Painting. Mr. Liang Yanran wrote "Fangcun Fu", and Mr. Chen Yongqiang wrote and inscribed. The main creators include Zhu Yongcheng, Zhang Zhenhe, Lu Yanxun, Liang Feng, Ma Jianzhong, etc. It is reported that in the early stage of creation, the Liwan District Archives Bureau and other departments organized painters from the Xiguan Academy to go deep into the southern area of Liwan, shoot scenic spots, roads and bridges, factory communities, and collect rich materials. The Water Show and Fragrance of Flowers panorama shows the scenery in the south of Liwan, starting from the junction of Guangzhou and Foshan, along the the Pearl River to Xilong Valley, delicately depicting flowers, trees, pavilions, factories and schools. In addition to the main exhibition area of the paintings, the exhibition also includes other relevant archival materials exhibition areas, displaying precious materials such as manuscripts, documentaries, and photos of the two works created in the past, "Xiguan Fenghua" and "Shuixiu Huaxiang". In addition, a new archive exhibition area has been set up at the exhibition site, which displays excellent photographic works collected by the National Archives of Liwan District since October 2018. These photography works capture the modern style of Liwan District, with real photos cleverly echoing the long scroll ink landscape, complementing each other. With their unique perspectives and expressive techniques, they showcase the beautiful scenery and cultural atmosphere of Liwan. (Lai Xin She)
