Li Yujia, Chief Researcher of the Housing Policy Research Center of Guangdong Provincial Urban Planning Institute, told Securities Daily that the reason why local governments purchase existing commercial housing as affordable housing is due to the normalized demand for affordable housing construction, especially in hot cities where the task of affordable housing is heavy. In terms of cycle and cost, the purchase of existing housing is more cost-effective than incremental construction.
