On the morning of the 3rd, the Chinese Academy of Engineering held an academician symposium in Beijing on "Practicing the Mission of Engineering Science and Technology and Promoting the Construction of a Science and Technology Strong Country".  
Ding Xuexiang pointed out in his speech that since its establishment 30 years ago, the Chinese Academy of Engineering has resolutely implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, vigorously promoted the development of engineering and technology, gathered first-class innovative talents, produced first-class scientific and technological achievements, contributed first-class consulting suggestions, and created first-class academic platforms, playing an important role in the development and progress of the country.
To be the vanguard of national strategic scientific and technological forces, firmly grasp the strategic opportunities of the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and strive to seize the technological high ground. To be the vanguard of engineering and technological innovation, solve major engineering and technological problems, promote the industrial application of scientific and technological innovation achievements, and better serve the development of new quality productive forces. To be the vanguard in breaking through key core technologies, starting from the urgent and long-term needs of the country, strengthen the research and development of "bottleneck" technologies, and strive to achieve more original breakthroughs in important fields. To be the vanguard of the construction of high-end think tanks in the country, we should closely focus on major issues with strategic direction and overall significance, strengthen forward-looking, targeted, and reserve strategic research, and support the decision-making of the Party and the state. Ding Xuexiang hopes that academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering will take the lead in vigorously promoting the spirit of scientists, integrating their life ideals into the cause of the country and the nation, deeply cherishing patriotism, upholding the spirit of serving the country, and bravely climbing the heights of science and technology, so as not to disappoint the earnest expectations of the Party and the people.

The Chinese Academy of Engineering was established on June 3, 1994.
