The International Theatre Festival of Russian Classics, Lobnia 2024, concluded on the 29th in Lobnia, Moscow Oblast. During the drama festival, theater artists from China, Russia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia and other countries performed on stage, using artistic language to interpret classics. This drama festival opened on the 6th and is divided into youth and professional sections. It presents over 50 classic Russian dramas created based on works by Pushkin, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Ostrovsky, and others to the audience. The China Academy of Chinese Opera and the Sichuan People's Art Theatre participated in this drama festival, adapting Chekhov's classic works "Cherry Blossom Garden" and "Bear" using Chinese Peking Opera and Sichuan Opera respectively, bringing audiences a new experience of Chinese elements in drama and receiving warm praise. Ran Changjian, Vice Dean of the China Academy of Chinese Opera, stated that on the occasion of the Sino Russian Cultural Year, the Peking Opera version of "The Cherry Blossom Garden" interprets Russian classic works in a traditional Chinese theatrical way. This not only further increases the Chinese people's understanding of Russian literature, but also enables the Russian people to better understand China's excellent traditional culture, enabling the two cultures to leverage each other and develop together through exchange and mutual learning.
