14 exits! The vast space leaves more footprints for China

2024-05-29

According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, since the successful entry into the space station complex on April 26th, as of May 27th, the crew of Shenzhou-18 astronauts has been working and living in orbit for 32 days. At present, the crew of Shenzhou-18 astronauts is in good condition, the space station assembly is operating stably, and has the conditions to carry out extravehicular activities. The first extravehicular activity will be carried out at an appropriate time. What preparations have the Divine Eighteen Riders made for the extravehicular activity? What preparations do the three astronauts of Shenzhou 18 need to make for this extravehicular mission? Before the first extravehicular activity of the crew of Shenzhou-18 astronauts, they inspected and tested the extravehicular spacesuit, which played a crucial role in the process of astronauts leaving the spacecraft. At present, there are a total of three sets of extravehicular spacesuits inside the Chinese space station, all of which are the second-generation "Feitian" spacesuits that support astronauts in carrying out extravehicular activities through rolling use. Although astronauts have trained countless times on the extravehicular suit during ground training, due to the inability to fully simulate a weightless environment on the ground, astronauts will still conduct corresponding landing training in orbit before officially executing the extravehicular mission. Each set of extravehicular space suits can support a working time of 8 hours at a time. According to the task arrangement of this extravehicular activity, the astronauts also confirmed the status of the extravehicular operation equipment and tools needed during the operation process. The Chinese space station is currently in a state of three cabins and two ships. In the extravehicular mission, the robotic arm can quickly send astronauts to the work site. Before executing the extravehicular mission, astronauts will also confirm the status of the robotic arm and conduct in orbit review and training on relevant operations in advance. At the same time, astronauts will also concentrate on learning and deducing the extravehicular activity manual to ensure that the entire extravehicular mission can proceed smoothly and orderly according to the plan. Chinese astronauts have successfully completed 14 extravehicular activities since entering the space station stage. Currently, the crew of Chinese astronauts has successfully completed 14 extravehicular activities. The crew of Shenzhou-12 completed two extravehicular activities on July 4th and August 20th, 2021. The crew of Shenzhou 13 completed two extravehicular activities on November 8 and December 27, 2021. The crew of Shenzhou XIV astronauts completed three extravehicular activities during their orbit, and they are also the first crew to extravehicular from the airlock of the Sky Quest Experimental Module. In 2023, the crew of Shenzhou-15 completed four extravehicular activities, setting a new record for single crew extravehicular activities. On July 21, 2023, the crew of Shenzhou 16 completed the outbound activity task. The crew of Shenzhou 17 completed two extravehicular activities on December 21, 2023 and March 2, 2024. (Lai Xin She)
